Hepatitis C is a blood-borne infection, so the way it can be transmitted from one individual to another is if contaminated blood comes in contact with the blood from the other individual. So we definitely caution patients not to share toothbrushes, razors. So the usual ways in which hepatitis C can be transmitted is by sharing needles during intravenous drug use,

as well as other types of equipment that is used during drug use. Now other ways in which hepatitis C can be transmitted, though less common, is sexual transmission. Besides the above, I think the other way that somebody can get hepatitis C is via a blood transfusion prior to 1992, or if somebody received an organ transplant from somebody who was infected with hepatitis C.
