Ulcerative colitis (UC) is type of inflammatory bowel disease that causes sores in the colon. Symptoms include abdominal pain and diarrhea, sometimes bloody. Treatment for UC may be a combination of over-the-counter anti-diarrhetics and prescription steroids or aminosalicylates.
