Julie A. Edell, PhD, is a board member of the Colon Cancer Alliance and a professor of business administration at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Her husband, Alan, was diagnosed in September of 1996 with metastatic colon cancer at age 49 and died from the disease in February 1999.
