Laurel Naversen Geraghty, MD

Laurel Naversen Geraghty, MD, is a board-certified, Stanford-trained dermatologist and journalist. She began her career as a magazine writer and editor for Glamour and Allure in New York, where she made frequent television appearances. Through her reporting about health and skin care, she discovered that she loved dermatology and medicine -- so much that she decided to leave her role as Glamour’s senior beauty editor to pursue medical school. She went on to earn her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed her dermatology residency at Stanford. She previously graduated with a B.A. in English from Brown University.

Dr. Geraghty (pronounced “Garrity”) has published academic papers on melanoma, skin disorders of pregnancy, cosmeceuticals, and lasers for the treatment of scars, wrinkles, and other conditions. Her work has appeared in the Journal of the American Medical Association and Cancer. She has enjoyed speaking at national dermatology conferences, including the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Throughout her medical training and career, Dr. Geraghty has continued to explore her interest in media and dermatology with the goal of patient education. She is frequently quoted as a dermatology expert in magazines and has written feature articles for The New York Times, Glamour, Allure, Self, Real Simple, Martha Stewart Living, Health, Prevention, Women’s Health, and other publications. Throughout medical school, she co-hosted the award-winning Dermatology Show on Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

Now a dermatologist practicing in Oregon, Dr. Geraghty enjoys helping her patients achieve their healthiest skin. Her clinical interests include patient education, skin cancer prevention and early detection, acne, cosmeceuticals, lasers, and aesthetic dermatology.
