Laurie J. Watson is a licensed marriage and family therapist and an AASECT certified sex therapist. Author of the book Wanting Sex Again: How to Rediscover Your Desire and Heal a Sexless Marriage and co-host of the podcast Foreplay: Radio Sex Therapy, Watson  has spent the last 25 years counseling couples on “keeping it hot.”

Laurie maintains a busy practice in North Carolina, with locations in Raleigh and Greensboro, specializing in couples and sex therapy. For out-of-town clients she offers flexible-length private couple intensives, online consultations, and couples weekend trainings at the Awakenings Center for Intimacy & Sexuality.

Watson blogs for WebMD and Psychology Today. She has been quoted in or written for media outlets such as Huffington Post, BuzzFeed,Bustle, Glamour, Women’s Health, Men’s Health, and Cosmopolitan.

Watson lectures on sexual functioning at the medical schools at Duke University and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She is passionate about advocating for breast cancer survivors and has been the keynote speaker on Sexually Surviving Breast Cancer for North Carolina’s Duke, Rex, and Greensboro hospitals. In her own field, she was also the keynote speaker for the social work and marriage and family therapist state conferences on attachment theory applied to couple’s sexuality. Watson is a frequent speaker for church retreats and women’s groups on marriage, sexuality, and the erotic woman.

Watson’s media experience began when she was invited to be a guest on Katie with Katie Couric to talk about female low libido. She has appeared many times as a monthly guest on the women’s talk show My Carolina Today, advising about the many sexual issues facing women. She is a favorite radio regular and the designated sex therapist for three popular morning-drive shows in Greensboro and Raleigh, where she answers questions about sex from the listeners and the DJs.
