June 29, 2020 -- A woman in Indiana beat the coronavirus just in time to celebrate her 100th birthday.

Leora Martin -- who survived cancer and a serious battle with pneumonia in the past -- was one of 76 residents at her assisted living facility who tested positive for COVID-19, The Associated Press reports. But one week before her milestone birthday, she learned she beat the virus.

“It was sort of a relief,” Martin tells The Elkhart Truth. “You have to remember, I’ve been through cancer. I had to go to the hospital for 5 days with rods in my body -- that was not comfortable, but I survived. They didn’t think I would survive pneumonia last year either, but I did.”

Greenleaf Health Campus shared a photo of the birthday girl grinning and holding up a sign reading, “COVID-19 can’t stop me from turning 100!”

As for her secret to living a long life, Martin suggests people stay active. “Also, keep loving other people,” she says.
