How can cancer can cause breathlessness?

ANSWER

Some types of cancer make fluid to pool in the space between your lungs and chest wall. This can make it painful to take a deep breath. You may feel a weight on your chest, or have a cough or a fever. Your doctor could prescribe a drug that eases swelling or helps your body flush out the extra fluid. Sometimes, they may need to take out the fluid and treat the area so it doesn’t fill again.
