How is lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) lung disease diagnosed?

ANSWER

Most people with LAM see their doctor because of shortness of breath. Because LAM is so rare, it's often misdiagnosed at first as asthma or emphysema. Tests that are often done to help your doctor make a diagnosis include:

  • Chest X-ray
  • Pulmonary function tests
  • CT scan
