How long does it take after you are infected to get sick with the coronavirus?

Symptoms for COVID-19 can start as early as 2 days and as long as 14 days after you are exposed. The average time symptoms appear is around 4 to 5 days. For many people, these symptoms initially are mild and then worsen over a few days. The most common symptoms are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Other patients may experience body aches and pains, congestion or runny nose, sore throat, diarrhea, chills or loss of taste and smell.
