Is it safe to handle packages?

ANSWER

We know that the coronavirus can be transmitted by droplets and from contaminated surfaces. How long the virus survives depends on the type of surface as well as the temperature, humidity, and exposure to sunlight. When it comes to packages, it’s hard to know how long the virus could survive if the surfaces are contaminated. The safest bet is to open packages outside, if possible, and dispose of the container immediately. Then, wash your hand thoroughly once you are back inside.
