Why should I get hormone replacement therapy (HRT) after surgical menopause?

ANSWER

Until the early 2000s, hormone therapy was routine not only for women who had surgical menopause, but for any woman entering menopause.

But the pros and cons of estrogen therapy have been thrown into doubt. Doctors still recommend hormone therapy for many women going into menopause after getting their ovaries surgically taken out.
