How can you help a loved one who has anorexia?

ANSWER

There are many things you can do to lighten the pressures that could lead someone to get anorexia. You can:

  • Tell them being extremely thin isn’t better
  • Value their personality and character over their looks
  • Encourage them to open up with their feelings
  • Build their self-esteem
  • Teach them about the dangers of dieting
  • Let them know no one expects them to be perfect
  • Set strong examples about healthy eating and exercise
