What is the outlook for people with Munchausen syndrome?

ANSWER

People with Munchausen syndrome can harm or even kill themselves while they fake illnesses. The many unneeded tests and medical procedures they get also can lead to health problems. They’re very likely to abuse drugs or attempt suicides. Some people with Munchausen syndrome have one or two brief episodes of symptoms. But most people have the condition for a long time. It can be very difficult to treat.
