Michael Lin

Michael Lin is a certified personal trainer and co-owner of VERVE Health & Fitness in Washington, D.C. He is an expert consultant for the WebMD Fitness Rx Challenge, helping two WebMD the Magazine readers on a year-long program to achieve better physical health.

Lin graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a BS degree in biochemistry and molecular biology in 1996 -- the same year he became a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer. He is also an APEX-certified nutritional counselor, a nationally registered EMT-Paramedic, Advance Cardiac Life Support provider by the American Heart Association, a member of American Fitness Professionals and Associations (AFPA), an AFPA-certified postrehabilitation exercise specialist, and IDEA member since 2000 -- the largest association of personal trainers worldwide.

In 2000, he embarked on his first personal training business
Akira Fitness -- serving Washington D.C. -- before forming VERVE Health & Fitness in 2003. VERVE specializes in private/small group personal training, yoga, Pilates, therapeutic massage, a triathlon conditioning program, outdoor classes, and foreign country health retreats.

Lin has trained politicians, athletes, A-list celebrities, and people working for high-profile corporate clients. He also has consulted for In Style magazine and contributed to Shape, in addition to regularly producing sports segments for ABC's Washington affiliate WJLA.

Lin believes and lives the philosophy that proper fitness and a healthy mindset are the keys to a happier and fuller life. He enjoys tennis, golfing, surfing, snowboarding, Porsche racing, competing in triathlons, and traveling the world.
