Nothing can ruin your day faster than having to battle a tension headache. But did you know something as simple as a massage can help relieve your pain while lowering stress levels? Studies show that a staggering 92% of people deal with tension headaches brought on by stress, muscle tension, or posture or eyestrain.

But instead of coping in silence, try slowly massaging your temples and working your way along your hair line until they meet in the center of your forehead. If that doesn't cut it, have someone else gently massage the back of your head, your neck, and your shoulder muscles. Not only will this reduce your headache symptoms, but it has also been known to help fight depression, anxiety, and chronic pain.

Although most tension headaches subdue over time, and can be managed with a healthy and active lifestyle, if you find yourself using medication more than twice a week, or experience mental confusion, fever, muscle weakness, double vision, difficulty speaking, or seizures, you should speak with a doctor or medical professional.
