How are migraines linked to sleep?

ANSWER

Sleep, mood, and headaches are all controlled by common regions in your brain. They all use similar chemical brain messengers, so it's no coincidence that sleep problems can trigger migraines.

In addition, when you don't get enough sleep, your pain threshold gets lower. That means you're more sensitive to things that hurt, including a migraine attack.
