DR. DINA J. GIESLER, DDS: The basics you should use every day when you clean your teeth, first of all, is floss your teeth at least once a day.

You want to brush at least twice a day for two minutes.

So that's a total of four minutes a day.

You should always brush your tongue.

Anything you can do preventive is going to cut down on the amount of bacteria that's in your mouth.
