How can arthrocentesis help treat osteoarthritis?
A sterile needle is used to remove joint fluid so doctors can give it a look. They can exclude gout, infection, and other causes of inflammatory arthritis. Injection of corticosteroids into the joints during arthrocentesis may help ease pain, swelling, and inflammation.
