What's the outlook for someone with neurofibromatosis?

ANSWER

It depends on the type you have. NF1 symptoms are often mild. Some people who have it can lead full and productive lives. Others have pain and deformity that lead to significant disability. The outlook for people with NF2 depends on age at onset and the number and location of tumors. Often, those with schwannomatosis have severe, debilitating pain.
