What's the most effective parenting style for discipline?

ANSWER

The most effective form of parenting is called an authoritative parent. They have clear expectations and consequences and are affectionate toward their child. They allow for flexibility and collaborative problem-solving with the child when dealing with behavior issues.

Less effective forms of parenting are the authoritarian parent, who has clear expectations and consequences but shows little affection, and the permissive parent, who shows lots of affection but provides little discipline.
