RAJ LAUNGANI: What they want
to ask their doctor is they want
to find out, obviously,
what their biopsy score shows.
That's one of the most important
factors when it comes to making
a decision about treatment.
What the doctor, what
the physician has to incorporate
into that treatment option
or that decision making process
is the patient's age,
the patients life expectancy,
and obviously any co-morbidities
that the patient may have,
which means how healthy or not
healthy the patient may be.
But it's extremely
important that the physician go
over all aspects of treatment,
or in this case, management,
because some forms of prostate
cancer
are actually low grade
or slow growing enough
where we don't have to do
anything at all.
And those are the gentleman
or the patients
that we want to spare
from over treatment
or unnecessary procedures.
So that's
an important discussion
that patients should have
with their physicians
or surgeon.
