When do you need surgery for hip rheumatoid arthritis?

ANSWER

Hip surgery may be an option when severe pain or joint destruction causes immobility. For more severe disease, your doctor may recommend total joint replacement. Experts estimate that about 80% of people who get hip replacement will have good results for 12-15 years. There's usually little pain after this surgery.
