Robert Anthony Hatcher, MD, MPH

Robert Anthony Hatcher, MD, MPH, is professor of gynecology and obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He attended Williams College, Cornell University Medical College, and the University of California at Berkeley.

He spent four months in Haiti, two months in Africa, one month in China, and the rest of his career at Emory and Grady Memorial Hospital, also in Atlanta. Hatcher received the Rockefeller Public Services Award in 1981 and has served on the board of trustees at Williams College (1981-1986). Currently, he teaches medical students, residents, and nurse practitioners at Emory. He writes out of his home in Tiger, Georgia.

Hatcher is senior author of the reference book Contraceptive Technology and the handbook Managing Contraception. His dream is to get better information about contraception to young healthcare providers early in their careers. Hatcher is sometimes introduced as "Captain Condom" because of his strong commitment to this use of latex!
