Types of UVB therapy include:

  • Broadband UVB therapy, which releases a wide band of ultraviolet light
  • Narrow-band UVB therapy, which releases a narrow band of ultraviolet light to target small areas of the skin
  • Goeckerman therapy, which works by applying coal tar to the skin before UVB light exposure. (This therapy isn't used frequently used and is only available at a few centers.)
