Summer is coming, which makes it even more important to not neglect our skin care regimen.
Be proactive with these 3 easy ways to keep your skin looking healthy:
- CLEANSE with a pH-balanced cleanser that doesn't contain ingredients like AHAs or glycolic acids that may irritate sensitive skin.
- MOISTURIZE after bathing and again as needed to help retain moisture in skin.
- PROTECT with a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects the skin from exposure to both UVA and UVB rays.
Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays will help it take care of you long-term—not only in preventing skin cancer, but premature aging, too.
Here's 4 things to consider when looking for sunscreen:
"Broad-spectrum" means that the sunscreen will protect against the damaging effects of both UVA and UVB rays—it's the first thing to look for on a label!
Wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen every day helps protect the skin from skin cancer, wrinkling, hyperpigmentation, and loss of skin elasticity.
SPF, or Sun Protection Factor, tells you the overall protection the product gives you against the sun's UVB rays.
If the sunscreen says "broad-spectrum SPF," the SPF number tells you the overall protection it provides against UVB and UVA rays.
Higher SPFs provide greater sunburn protection, so go for at least 30.
Look for sunscreens formulated with zinc oxide, which blocks the widest spectrum of UVA and UVB rays. UV Clear Broad Spectrum by EltaMD, formulated with hyaluronic acid and lactic acid, protects and soothes sensitive skin, clears pores, and reduces shine.
That means no scent, no grease, and no pilling.
