Steven V. Edelman, MD

Steven V. Edelman, MD, is associate professor of medicine and co-director of the endocrine fellowship training program at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and VA Medical Center. He is conference founder and executive director of Taking Control of Your Diabetes, an annual series of diabetes educational conferences and health fairs held in selected cities in the U.S. and designed to bring the newest, most practical information to people who are living with diabetes, and their families. Edelman is the author of several books and articles dealing with diabetes, including Taking Control of Your Diabetes.

He is a native of Southern California, raised in the Los Angeles area, and has been living with diabetes since the age of 15. Edelman graduated from UCLA with honors and was the valedictorian of his medical school class at UC Davis in 1982. After completing his diabetes specialty training at the prestigious Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, he came to UCSD to obtain clinical research training and has been on staff since 1990. He is board certified in internal medicine and metabolism, diabetes, and endocrinology. Over the past 10 years, Edelman has become a local and national leader in diabetes treatment, research, and especially education. He is dedicated to helping people with diabetes live healthier and happier lives.

Edelman is a consultant and conducts clinical trials for Lilly.
