You shouldn't get the HPV vaccine if:

The HPV vaccine's safety and effectiveness isn't clear in people older than age 26, so it's not recommended for that age.

  • You've had a life-threatening allergic reaction to a previous dose of the HPV vaccine or to any of its ingredients.
  • You're pregnant.
  • You're sick and it's not a mild illness.
