I bought a pack of samphire in the supermarket, Tesco finest, 1/1/13 as a vegetable, because I have never seen it before and it looked interesting. 'A coastal plant'. I am allergic (anaphylactic) to Kiwi, red wine, red cabbage and prawns. Basic cooking, softened in oil and garlic and steamed, nothing else. The first mouthful I didn't like. The second and my whole body objected and I didn't swallow it. Within half an hour I had asthma, urticaria and sickness.I went to bed and woke in a pool of blood. My ear lobes had swollen and I had scratched in my sleep and broken the skin. Ear lobes bleed like mad when the skin is broken. Three days and I still have the urticaria. Be careful of samphire if you have allergies. It's incredibly salty anyway so don't bother. Read More Read Less
