Have been having terrible hot flashes for more than four months. They occur three or four times an hour throughout the day, and then on into the night making getting a good night's sleep almost impossible. I tried both magnesium and sage, both touted as remedies for hot flashes, neither did anything at all. But within 4 days of me trying Black Cohosh, my hot flashes began to lessen. Within 2 weeks...

To the people who complain about upset stomach during use: I experienced the same thing until I heeded the label advice. The label "recommended" taking with food--but did not say it was required. That definitely helped. I've been taking this everyday for a couple of months, and I noticed a marked difference in mood stabilization and none of my usual PMS troubles. It's been so much better to me than the Xiao Yao Wan that I tried for months.

About 7 years ago, I went into menopause and did not want to take any of the harmones so I took estroven. It worked for a while, I then graduated to extra strength estroven. It worked for awhile, then I looked up the main ingredient and started buying it in the store. I took the lowest dosage and it worked. I have increased the dosage over the years (5+ years) and would not trade it for nothing else. It is really cheap if you buy it on-line from Swanson.

I was thrown into early menopause by chemotherapy. I had preventive chemo and radiation after having a lumpectomy that WAS cancer. Hot flashes became unpredictable and unbearable. Especially at night. Awoke many, many times soaking wet and sleep was constantly interrupted.I was told about Black Cohosh by a client. The nights I had the flashes were bad enough, but when I had 1 during the day at work...it was interfering with my work. (I am a Hair Stylist)...and I would have to stop right in the middle of working on a client. Color, cut, foil, etc. I had to just stop and get cold wet towels to put on my neck, chest, face. I started taking the Black Cohosh the day I was told about it. 2 1/2 weeks ago. 1 in the AM & 1 in the PM. I have not had a single Hot Flash in 17 days. I am going to see my Physician in 2 weeks and I will ask him if he thinks it is risky 4 me because of the Breast Cancer I had in 2005. If he says yes....I am going to be devastated, because this stuff has been amazing so far!!! I am still a little moody, and I have gained a little weight....But, NO HOT FLASHES..Totally awesome!! I hope I can continue to take them!! They WORK!!!! Read More Read Less

I have been taken the Spring Valley, Black Cohosh extract caps 3 times a day, for over a month now. It immediately stopped my anxiety which was creating harsh mood swings, slowed down the fast heart rate, and most of the hot flashes are gone, I have no more night sweats at all and seem to function a lot better. I do experience some light headedness at times but not enough to interfere with daily functions. Over all I am very satisfied with it.

Headaches, light-headedness, irregular and fast heartbeats. I often felt I was in a foggy state along with transient nausea.

I think initially the black cohash was helpful, but as I got further into menopause, it didn't seem to help as much.

I have been taking the remifemin brand black cohosh for a little over a month now. At first, it was working great for my hot flashes and night sweats. But for the last two weeks i have been experiencing an inreased rapid heart rate, nausea, pelvic pain and low back pain. I went to see my cardiologist for the rapid heart rate and she wants to put me on medication for that now. I have stopped the black cohosh and will see if my heart rate slows down so that i dont have to take another medicine.Read More Read Less

I started taking 540 mg. twice a day at the end of Nov. It is now the first week in Jan and I haven't had a hot flash in about a month. Prior to starting I was having 20-30 a day(not counting night sweats). They were even making me light headed and causing nausea. Not anymore. I love this stuff. Make sure it is natural not synthetic.

I have been using Black Cohosh for about 5 months now. The Nature's Way, Premium Extract has been like a miracle for me. I no longer have ANY hot flashes. NONE!! It took about two weeks for me to notice the difference. I had been suffering with hot flashes for about 16 years. I never mentioned it to my gynocologist...silly me. I mentioned it to a friend who is a gynocologist nurse practitioner & she suggested black cohosh. I went to Whole Foods & one of the girl on the floor suggested this brand. I am TRULY like a new person. I no longer worry about the uncomfortability of hot flashes ruining my days. I did try another brand, because it was less expensive...it DID NOT work for me.Read More Read Less

Having severe flashes - more than 24 a day. Tried Cohosh and it did nothing but make me light headed and make my stomach upset from the pills. Works for some, but not for me. Why do women have to go through this torture? Nothing works to curb the flashes. 3+ years now and I am loosing my mind.
