It is a natural alternative to artificial sweetners yet safe for diabetics. I use it mainly to sweeten cereals and coffee and it provides a good flavor.

This liqui!d stevia is a rip off! I had to use about 4 o 5 squirts to get any sweetness unlike other stevia products. Also it is has several ather additives one being Erythritol a cause for major adverse cardiovascular problems amoung other problems. I would check it our before buying this product!

40+ y/o active male. Average U.S. consumption of sugar (high). Desired to reduce calorie consumption. Explored monk fruit, aspartame, sucralose, saccharin, erythritol, and sugar alcohols. No pertinent medical history. Family history negligible. "I was weighing in at 190 lbs. Other substitutes weren't practical for various reasons. Initially, stevia had an odd after taste. Realized different manufacturers would combine powder or liquid form with different preservatives or mediums. I use a very streamlined liquid form daily. I bake with a powder form mixed with raw cane sugar or maltodextrin. Liquid has been the most beneficial. No side effects experienced. Current weight is 150 lbs. Daily use in coffee with almond milk as creamer. If tolerable, would HIGHLY recommend."Read More Read Less

Had some Stevia and after about 20 mins of consumption, I started to feel numbness in my hands and face that lasted about 2 hours. I've absolutely no medical history that can be contributed to this. Never using Stevia again!!

For the past few months, I have been using stevia in my coffee & iced tea. I have also been buying candy that has been sweetened with stevia. I had developed really bad nausea that would not go away, even with prescription strength medications. I was also experiencing more than usual headaches. After reading a few articles that stated nausea could be a side effect, I am mediately stopped use. The very next day, my nausea was gone and my headaches decreased significantly. It's great that some people can tolerate it, but I am going to avoid it like a plague!Read More Read Less

I was hiking in the Grand Canyon, and my friend gave me an electrolyte tablet with Stevia in it. I was unaware that it had Stevia. The rest of the hike I started having a urinary track problems. I was having to go with more frequently and not peeing very much. The next day I finished 16oz of the mix. That night I was up and down the whole night. It took about 4 days for this to go away. I went to urgent care and was tested for UTI, I was clean. So, I have felling that Steva did this to me, since it was the only new thing introduced to my body. I know I have a problem with artificial sweeteners, so I try to stay away from them.Read More Read Less

Anecdotal story. I used to be able to tolerate stevia as a sweetener. And then I got sick from it. Had a reaction to it. Had been drinking a "health food store" soft drink with stevia as the sweetener. Maybe two to three sodas for about three days during a heatwave last summer. I got up from eating lunch and lost all function in my legs and had extreme vertigo. Ended up in the hospital for a couple of days and then 6 weeks physical therapy for my vestibular system and use in legs. I don't recommend using this unless one is extremely certain it is safe. I thought it was safe. In some cases, not so much. Read More Read Less

We use only Stevia extract. The powdered brands are not as sweet and have additives. We use it daily in our coffee, I use about 15 drops per cup (a lot), and my wife mixes it with water and Chocolate flavor extract (non-alcohol). Her mix is 20 cups water,1 cup powdered Stevia EXTRACT, and 3 cups Chocolate Extract (non-alcoholic). That much last her about 5 weeks. 2 cups of coffee per day. We like it sweet! be sure it is "Only the highly purified form of stevia (Reb-A) is approved safe by the FDA. Stevia is 250 to 300 times sweeter than sucrose." My wife uses CC's Pure stevia extract and I use Now Better Stevia liquid.Read More Read Less

I have hypoglycemia. I’ve used stevia for more years than I can remember. I get my stevia fix from Trader Joe’s, it’s there 1 oz., jar of Organic Stevia Extract and no sugar alcohol. It even comes with it’s own 45 mg spoon. I use it with my cereal oatmeal or anything where l need sweet flavor. I’ve never experienced that bitterness other OP’s complain about. It doesn’t always overcome a sugar fix that most of us hypoglycemics seem to have, but I’ll choose a stevia baked product first in the hope it’ll break the crave. I like it in iced tea, lemonade and my fave, ACV cocktail (to balance my sugar)!!! It’s has a long shelf life and this jar will last way past the expiration date without much of any flavor loss. Excellent product! Sugar vs. Stevia: sugar puts me out in left field with exhaustion, memory loss, depression arthritis and weight gain, but the list goes on. Stevia causes nothing and it’s easy on my body, mind and soul. I Love This Stuff!!!Read More Read Less

So I get stevia via a beverage I was buying called Bai Antioxidant Infusion. Every time I drink this stuff I get a headache and a terrible upset stomach. Additionally, I was drinking it pretty regular and two (18 oz) bottle a day. At that rate of consumption my arm broke out in a rash and were very itchy. I do not recommend stevia in any form and avoid it like the plague now. Consume at your own peril.

Hello, I have been using Sweetleaf Stevia (organic, now) for probably 12 years without problems. If you take a lot, you may not like the taste, but I use the liquid drops for my Coco Mojo every morning and at our house, we cook and bake with it. No side effects and always tastes great! I do not have diabetes, but do have a serious Chromium Deficiency, which may make me more susceptible. Nothing seems to resolve the Chromium Deficiency! SO I take care by taking lots of Chromium and 1-3 Berberine capsules everyday. Works for me. PLUS, if you do have trouble with the taste of Stevia, try mixing the tiniest amt. of sugar in the recipe with mostly all Sweetleaf Stevia, and it will taste like natural sugar!! Makes great gelatin desserts and jams, cobblers, everything!! However, we ONLY use SWEETLEAF brand, as recommended by famous nutritionist, Anne Louise Gittleman. :-) Joyce E. I have been using 10 to 15 packets of this sweetener for over 2 years now in my coffee daily and have had no issues. I buy it at Aldi's and I'm very satisfied so far. I have also used it in my tea, and in foods. But this stuff has some sugar alcohol mixed with it, and that may brother some people.

I developed horrible diarrhea after using stevia in my coffee. I also had bloating and stomach pain for the entire day. I normally have no problems with diarrhea. Please make sure you are at home and close to a toilet. Stevia is not a healthy product and should be removed from the market.

I used stevia as a sugar substitute in my regular cup of coffee and within 5 minutes of drinking it, developed a sever headache which lasted for almost 2 days. I did not see this listed as an adverse reaction, however, it is. I subsequently tried a sugar free beverage some weeks later, which I did not know had stevia in it and had the same reaction. Clearly, this substance is not a sweetener alternative for me.

Stevia is starting to show up in many foods as a sweetener. I have now seen 3 people have severe psychotic episodes within 2 minutes of ingesting the sweetener. In two of cases the stevia was listed as a 'natural flavor' and I had to call the company to confirm what was in the drink or candy bar.

Notice that most bad reviews don't mention the brand of stevia that caused issues for them. I go for the Organic Sweetleaf with inulin and, unlike some other brands, it works just fine.

Perhaps I could have been taking too much stevia but I had been having this sweetener in the form of four packets in 14 ounces of coffee (or tea) twice a day sometimes. It took about a couple of months but I started to develop hives. My skin would itch like never before. I had switched to stevia because sucralose (Splenda) gave me high blood pressure and aspartame (Equal) gave me headaches. I guess nothing beats sugar. Agave nectar seems to me to be the best sweetener (when I don't want to deal with the sometimes overpowering taste of honey.)Read More Read Less
