What are tips for choosing a doctor to treat my pelvic pain?

ANSWER

Your pelvic pain may not have an obvious cause, so it may take some time and effort to figure it out. There are specialists you can use and tests that can be done to find the cause of the pain and what can be done about it.

No matter what specialists you see, choose a health care provider who knows a lot about chronic pelvic pain. Many different types of doctors can help people in pain. If your regular doctor is not familiar with causes of pelvic pain, ask for an outside referral.
