KIM RICHARDSON: Nipples are just
like people -- they come in all
shapes, sizes, colors
and degrees of hairiness.
Yes, nipples can be hairy.
They can also be bumpy, point in
instead of out,
be flat or puffy.
Point is, everybody's nipples
are different, so it gets kind
of hard to define what's
"normal."
But I can tell you a few things
that aren't normal,
and if you encounter any
of these, you should see
your doctor.
Bleeding is never normal.
Crusting, persistent itching,
scabbing.
Also, random discharge.
Notice I said "random."
If you've been pulling
and squeezing your nipples
really hard
and you see some discharge,
that's OK.
But when it just appears out
of nowhere and you're like, "Hey
where'd this wet stuff come
from?" -- that's not normal.
Also, not normal: a change
in the position of your nipple.
If it's pointing
in a different direction
than it was or it's pulling
inward, see a doctor right away.
And if the changes you're seeing
are happening only to one nipple
and not both, it's especially
important to see your doctor.
Basically, if your nipples have
always been like that, cool,
if they haven't, not cool.
And if you're not seeing any
of these changes, then, yes,
your nipples are normal --
and they're unique, just like
you.
So celebrate those nips!
