Bone Marrow Aspiration and Biopsy

Bone marrow aspiration removes a small amount of bone marrow fluid through a needle put into a bone. Bone marrow biopsy removes a small amount of bone along with bone marrow fluid.

For this procedure, the person typically lies on his or her side or stomach.
