With this Vit D deficiency, I was feeling extremely mooody. I got much better taking 5,000 units a day. Then I ran out and didn't refill. I noticed a difference in my moods straight away. so did my family. Once I got back on Vit D I got much better in a couple of days. I plan to never run out again! This has a been a God send for me. And, it's not a drug which is even better!

It does make me feel nauseous, thinking of taking only at night. I also found it makes me itch and I am wondering about constipation going to ask my Dr. about that. Also found I am bruising real easy. However, I am taking krill oil as well. My joints and muscle are very relieved from both vitamins and I will continue to take for now.

Supplementing with 5000 I.U. of D3 for 4 years. Noticed a great reduction in the winter blues, depression. Hardly ever get a cold/reduction in duration of a cold. Don't burn as quickly when exposed to sunlight in the summer. No adverse effects in the 4 years, level of vitamin D3 in the blood was adequate. Blood test showed no deficiency.

I am taking RX Vitamin D because my level was very low. I have not had any negative side affects from the medication. In fact, it has had a very positive effect on me as my moods have gotten much better! Previous feelings of post menapausal depression are gone.

Lab test done in June of 2011 indicated I had a deficency of Vitamin D. My primary smyptom prompting my primary care physician to order the test was muscle and joint pain and chronic dry mouth. Standard treatment for this condition is 50,000 IU of of oral D2 once a week for 12 weeks. Because of adverse reactions (nausea, headaches, extreme itching, impaired balance) The most disabling reaction however, was varying degrees of mental confusion, (unable to spell common words, missing turns when driving, uncertain as to day of week, etc.) Within days of discontinuing the D2 prescription these reactions all went away. The problem is I am still D deficient. A greater problem at this point is when I take even a low dosage of any D supplement including cod liver oil I have negative reactions. My endocrinologist tells me injections of D are not an option. So, for the time being, I make it a point to daily eat food known to contain D, and do 10 to 15 minutes of sun a day when possible. There is a D3 topical cream available off the internet. Chances are I will be giving it a try in the near future. The day to day muscle pain is mostly annoying, but there are those days when the degree of pain is quite uncomfortable. We all know things could be worse. Hope this helps. Take care.Read More Read Less

The blood work from my annual physical showed that I was way off the low end for vitamin D. Dr. prescribed 50,000 IUs a week for 4 months and I felt the results immediately. Muscle cramping and joint pain decreased dramatically in just a few days. I now take 2000 IU a day and exercise and work without the muscle problems that I was having. This really works for me.

I have taken a very low dose of Vit D3 for about 4 mos now and have never felt better in my life. I sleep better, have a great sense of self-esteem and have lost 11 lbs. I have no side effects and I usually do have side effects whenever a new med is given to me. Wonderful, wonderful medication!!!!

I have been taking a 1000 mg tablet daily. It seems to be okay; however, I have been advised that taking 5000 mg daily is better.

Since I have started on Vitamin D3, I always feel like there is a brick in the top of my stomach. It hurts most of the time. Occassionally I can take Pepto Bismol or drink mil and it might ease up, but it generally comes back.
