Had a sore throat so painful I thought it was strep and went to urgent care. The rapid strep test came back negative so it was just a really painful sore throat. The Dr. gave me this RX for the pain and it helped tremendously! It's pretty thick so I'm not sure how any "gargling" would take place so I just swallow it. Numbs the pain so I can swallow and sleep better. It taste terrible but I'd say i...

I was prescribed this medication to ease my severe sore strep throat along with Amoxicillin and Benzonatate tablets. The directions clearly say "Swish and gargle 15mls (about one tablespoon) for 15 seconds every 4hrs while awake for pain. Spit out, do not swallow". At first glance, I didn't have any concern for taking this medication. I have experienced gargling a warm water salt solution before a...

Have a sore throat - REALLY bad sore throat. Dr. prescribed lidocaine and said to gargle and not swallow. It didn't help at all - until I swallowed some of the liquid by mistake. It numbed my lower throat but also made it difficult to swallow and breathe through my mouth. Kind of scary. The numbness only lasted about 5 minutes though. Not worth the cost of the medication.

This was prescribed to me for strep. It's too thick to gargle and only numbed my tongue and lips, making my discomfort more awkward. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it was so ineffective. Gargling hot water and sea salt has better effect for me.

I had to get some fibers between my teeth removed. I got a couple shots in both sides of my mouth and it worked pretty well, except a few hours after I got home and fell asleep the vision in my right eye became blurry. It has yet to change back to normal. It is 3 hours after the injections.

I have ulcers on my throat and uvula. Can barley swallow so I asked my Dr. for help. He prescribed this Lidocaine and the first time I used it I thought it was terrible. The second time I gagged and alomst vomitted. Don't think I will use anymore. It's not really the taste, it's the thickness that I can't get over.

Tip: If you can't get it to gargle because it's thick, mix it with liquid Benadryl.

I was prescribed this to ease the pain of my strep throat. I totally agree that this stuff is like trying to gargle vaseline but I used a qtip and applied it directly to my tonsils and a tiny bit on the very back of my tongue to almost swallow a drop so it would numb way down in there. This is a lifesaver. I was crying my pain was so severe and this helps but it only lasts for about 20 minutes but it's 20 minutes of heaven.

I had strep throat and it hurt to swallow A LOT! It felt like knives were scratching my throat when I swallowed. After gargline Lidocaine Viscous, it did not help at all until I actually swallowed it, letting it soothe the deepest parts of my throat, and it really worked! I was no longer afriad of swallowing. It has a terrible taste but it is definitly worth it.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GARGLE!! Simply apply with Qtip and then rinse out with water. Im on the 2% and have been surprised with effectiveness.

I was given this medication for a sore throat & found it was too thick to gargle with. It did somewhat numb the pain, but also caused gagging. Too bad I didn't read the reviews before I filled the prescription.

One of the worst things that I have put in my mouth! Dr. did not explain the entire reason for this med. I refuse to use it and have found it disgusting. Dosage was for sore throat. Not my regular physician. My sore throat was not that bad. I have contacted medical group.

Was to use for a sore throat. Impossible to gargle. very hard to swallow. Cost $75 and was a total rip off. Dr. must get a kicker to use it? Do bother buying for a sore throat.

Taking for severe soar throat: Very thick and hard to apply, using a q-tip is way easier than trying to gargle, it did ease the pain temp though.

I was prescribed this drug for severe throat irritation from strep throat. It was so thick that I gagged and barely managed to swallow it. The feeling came back to my throat within an hour. Not effective and too gross for me to continue treatment.

I found the medication to be too thick to gargle for swollen glads & throat irritation. It has a terrible taste that made me gag everytime I used it, so I didn't get the best effect.
