I suffered from cluster migraines since the age of 17. I'm now 48. Since 17, I tried everything- Caffergot, Midrin, Fioricet along with practically every OTC known to man! All with little or no effect. The downside is that I suffered for years- until Imitrex came along. I remember the first dose I took of it, sent me into a tailspin, but as I adjusted to the side-effects, it was clear I had FINALL...

horrible side effect. Imitrex is awful and terribly expensive.

This medication works pretty good (faster and more completely once the Dr had me take it with an Aleve). My migraine is usually gone in about an hour, no matter how far along the migraine is. It works better than the rizatriptan I started out on. It does cause me to get a little foggy once it starts working though.

i get debilitating migraines multiple times a month. imitrex does make them go away most of the time with just one dose, though i have to sleep awhile after taking it. i once tried to take it when i felt a migraine coming on and proceeded to finish my work day and it resulted in a lot of bad vomiting and dizziness.

My experience with with this drug is that my brain felt like it was on fire. More accurately, it felt like very strong acid was coursing through all the blood-vessels in my brain. Over all the experience was terrifying.

This rarely works for me. I was trying to take it to have something else to get by with before my beloved Relpax could be filled again. If this is a major headache Imitrex will do absolutely nothing for me. Personally I think Relpax is a godsend for people who aren't responsive to things like Imitex or Maxalt.

I have been getting migraines for well over 25 yrs and nothing would work to even ease the pain I have. They are more frequent now, and my dr gave me Imitrex and it's like a dream come true! It has worked for me and also my daughter who is 32yrs old has been on this for migraines as well and makes her feel like a new woman! I hope it helps anyone suffering with these awful, life altering pains.

I took this drug for several years because there was nothing else that came close to working. Every time I took it I would have 12 to 24 hours of severe bodyaches, light sensitivity, nausea and feeling overall like I've been hit by a truck. Worse, I had The migraines come back 40% of the time. If I hadn't discovered Relpax I don't know how I would survive.

I had suffered with headaches that over the counter meds wouldn't touch. I finally asked for migraine medicine and Imitrex (Sumatriptan is the generic brand) takes these headaches away in 15-30 minutes. Never fails. It's a miracle drug for anyone with these headaches. I actually have to half the 100 mg pill because the chest tightening/weird feeling in the chest I get is too much with the whole pill but half the pill usually works great. If not, I eat something and take the rest of the pill about an hour later. If you suffer with headaches that over the counter doesn't help with, ask for this or other migraine medicine. Didn't touch my migraines - I don't care how early or often I took the stuff. It did nothing to stop the nausea - I think it made it worse. Ease of use is not great when you are vomiting and cannot get another pill down.

Although I think highly of this drug, the 2 side effects I usually get are the prickley feelings in my face( cold compress feels like my face is burning) and I get leg spasms I cant control even when I know its coming. That's ok with me because without this I would most likely give up on everything. Have lost too much time from work and quality of life. Hard to go anywhere when youre thinking, not if I get one but when. Thank you for this medication.

50 mg Works like a charm if I take it early enough. Even taken later headache if gone after 1 hour. Rarely had to take a second dose after 2 hours.

First off Imitrex is pricey so if you don't have insurance or have crappy Rx benefits try Costco or your local wholesale warehouse before going anywhere else first and you usually don't even need a paid membership to use their pharmacy but even if you do it's worth it! At Costco I pay $40 for 30 generic pills. At CVS I was paying $600 for 30 generic pills. Talk about greedy corporations! For most scripts you can't beat Costco prices! Now as far as the medicine itself it works well. For the most part it gets rid of my migraines within 2-3 hours. If that seems like a long time keep in mind that without the meds I'd be down for the entire day, sometimes longer! Also once I take the Imitrex it's tends to make me a bit sicker before making me better so I usually take it then lay down to bypass feeling like crap hence why it takes 2-3 hours to feel 100% better. I have noticed that if you take it when the migraine starts the better chance of it working without any side effect issues. All in all of you get migraines and Advil, Tylenol or Naproxen isn't working then try this, taking Imitrex has at least allowed me to have a life again. Without it going on trips or adventures or even errands would be a nerve racking idea, at least now when I go somewhere or do something I know if I get a migraine I will find relief and be able to continue what I was doing within 2 hours. Def try this medication, the only thing you have to gain is your life back.Read More Read Less

I have migraine headaches that last 3 days. My pain is in my left temple beside my eye. The pain is like an ice pick driven into my head. If I don't take Imitrex, I would be in bed for 3 days in pain, with sensitivity to light and sound and accompanied with vomiting. Imitrex takes away my pain completely after about 30-45 min. My only problem is that the first pill I take only works for 6 hours and I am not supposed to take more than 2 pills in a 24 hour period. I need to take 800mg of Advil to get me to the 12 hour mark. The Advil just takes the edge off (I still have pain) until I take the next Imitex. I usually need 5 (100 mg) for the 3 days of my migraine.Read More Read Less

The medication always works for me but it aggravates my joint pain. I had 2 hip replacements and it really hurts in the hip joints.

This drug is a life changer. I've suffered from cluster headaches for 24 years having one at least once a week and NOTHING has ever come close to helping. Now I haven't had one in 3 months. I take a pill when I feel a cluster headache coming which successfully aborts it. Even hours into a full blown attack I took a pill and relieved 95% of the pain. It all works within 2 hours of taking it Another great thing? My insurance covers it 100%. Even better: it is only $16 for 9 pills (you can break them in half and have 18) without insurance.Read More Read Less
