I had a full hysterectomy, and after 3 years saw no decrease in the night sweats or hot flashes and had completely lost my sex drive. I still have night sweats occasionally, but no more hot flashes or loss of libido.

I have been very happy with estratest. I just got the generic and did have a strong reaction. I am nauceous and clamy. I still have a few of the original pill but am not sure what I will do when I'm out. I was lucky because I had a partial hysterectomy at 32 and did not need any HS therapy till 55. But when the symtoms hit I felt so horrible. The estratest has given me back my life.

I have been on this for years and it works wonderfully. Just found out Solvay quit making in 3-31-09. I had been through several until I found this. I don't know where to start looking for or if there is a replacement. I don't know about you, bu I hate being a Guinea Pig. I would pay more than try a generic since one of the posts said they don't work as well. I suppose we don't have a choice now.

I had a partial hysterectomy at age 42 (uterus + cervic removed). I am now 55. I started taking estratest HS after my surgery due to hot flashes / mood swings. My doctor wanted me to try to go off of this drug. I did take myself off of it gradually, and was off of it completely for 3 months. My night + day sweats, mood swings, no sex drive etc. all returned. Plus my joints began hurting also. I went back on the medication a couple of months ago. I feel like a new women again. I guess I'll try again in a few years and see how it works out for me.Read More Read Less

I had a partial hysterectomy at age 29. No doctor has EVER been able to tell me if I will go thru the change; however, it is obvious that I have been going thru it for years by my symptoms...nervousness,restlessness, depression ( which I have been able to overcome by exercising and keeping myself busy). What does anyone have to say about "if I will go thru the change" like everyone else..PLEASE help me understand..Carol

I used Estratest during menopause and after as it seemed to help my (at times) serious depressions. I only wish Medicare helped pay for it, as it's the only insurance I presently have. I could probably give up my Rx for Celexa if I had Estratest, but....o, well:(

My gyn would like me to try this for one month. I too, am very concerned about the risks. Although it is a low milligram, I have never been on any form of hormonal treatment before. If anyone has any suggestions, thoughts, advice, I would appreciate it very much.

Prior to taking this drug, I would have hot flashes and break out in a soaking sweat. The full strength drug was too strong, which is why I take the HS version. I have had a total hysterectomy and and this version of the drug has worked very well for me. The hot flashes stopped, and I now show no signs of the change of life at all.

I was prescribed Estrate full strength but it turned out to be too strong. Estratest works just fine.
