I am 27, have never had children or been pregnant and have had my paragard for 4 months now. I took 2 ibprofen before insertion and while it was painful, the worst of the pain lasted for less than 10 seconds. I had some mild cramping the week after and my periods were back to normal after two cycles (the first two cycles were 1-2 days longer and more crampy than usual. my partner does not feel it ...

I originally had the Mirena IUD, but it had made my period completely go away, which caused some serious yeast infections. After changing to Paragard, my period is back--heavy--but thats ok. I like not having to take horomones, they have a bad effect on my sex drive. I'm glad I can keep this one in for 10 years with no worries...

I have had the paraguard for 1 1/2 years and am VERY happy. I love not having to use condoms with my longtime boyfriend. We have two kids and don't want another for at least 1-2 more years. It was painful getting it but after about a week, the pain and cramping was gone. My periods for the first 3 months were very heavy (one super tampon an hour)but after that it has been normal. I do have spotting between periods but it is minamal and was one of the side effects listed in the brocure so I am not supprised. Don't use as your only method if your not in a long term relationship. And of course use condoms to prevent std's.(that disclaimer is due to the fact that I am a mom:) ) I really reccomend this to someone that doesn't want kids for a few years. There is nothing to forget and the little bit of spotting is worth the convienence. Read More Read Less

i have never had children berfore and o my goodness i have never felt pain like this before, ive only had it for a week now and im still in really bad pain, i cant stand up straight cause of how tight my stomach is and it so umcomfortable to even lay down flat! The process hurt and is still killing me but i cant wait to get over the pain and start to understand how much easier this will make my life, i do recommend this product because it is very convient but if youve never had kids before this is very very painful. My daughter has three children at 20 years old. Her Medicaid would not cover a BTL until she's 21 so she went to the clinic to have the IUD inserted. That was seven months ago, she told me today she is pregnant! They removed the IUD and told her she may miscarry or have a child with deformities. Not at all satisfied.

I've had this IUD for about 3 years now. Overall I was happy with it and haven't had any serious side effects. It did make my periods alot heavier and I get cramps during my period, which I didn't have before this IUD.

I have never had a child, so insertion was a little painful. For a few days after I had cramping and spotting. Of course, I was warned by my doctor that this would happen so I was ready for it. I've had it for a little over a month now and I am very satisfied with it. I was on Yaz for about a year and have noticed positive changes in my body from not being on it anymore. I'm not as moody, my appetite has decreased, and I am no longer chronically constipated.

I had mine inserted 3 months after having my third child. I had no pain or cramping with insertion or after and so far no side effects. I love it!
