I have used Allegra for a decade to control and minimize my system's allergic reaction to everything from trees to grasses and from cats to dogs and from mites to mildew-- I'm allergic to everything it seems at times! :-) Allegra 180 has been extremely effective for me, although I do supplement periodically with antihistimine eyedrops and/or a nasal steroid. That said, when pollen and ragweed c...

I had a severe allergic reaction to a 180 mg Kirkland brand (Aller-Fex) that my friend gave me to try because my allergies were so bad this year and the other medications I had been taking weren't working. I immediately started sweating and I felt dizzy. Shortly after, my tongue started swelling and I had shortness of breath. Luckily I was able to get to an Urgent Care Facility and they took me in...

I tried the generic/otc version of Allegra and have experienced a number of issues that I see others reporting. I have had difficulty sleeping even though I took the medication in the middle of the day. I have also had increased itchiness on my skin and cramps in my feet.

I immediately started sweating and I felt dizzy. Shortly after, my tongue started swelling and I had shortness of breath. Although I had checked with my doctor before taking this medication, it really was a very frightening experience. Read More Read Less

I have been on this medication since I was 11yrs old. I take it on and off as my body gets used to something I stop if for awhile. It has always been pretty good at helping my allergies, but would have some side effects with some back pain or tiredness. But lately it has been killing my back, very tired and week lately. I am going to stop taking this. I have very bad allergies wondered if any of you can recommend something else?

Have unexplained hives/rash on face/neck. Has decreased the itch and redness quite a bit (1 12hr, 2x day) but I definitely feel waves of dizziness when it begins kicking in as well as difficulty concentrating and feeling "out of it" for most of the day and I still have some itching, redness and flushing. It's only been about four days so hoping side effects will subside. If I didn't work from home, I would not take it though, the fog is a bit much.

After months of puzzling about my sever dizziness and vomiting episode that ended at ER and many tests that ruled out other reasons for my sever dizziness. I just discovered the correlation with taking the Allegra, which I only use episodically when the itching of my eye lid becomes troublesome. The connection, which I had missed was a relief as no one could figure it out as I had not listed Allergra as a medication that I take, as I only took one pill, 180 MG, perhaps every 3-4 weeks and never connected the two!!!Read More Read Less

I have been taking taking Allegra 180mg once a day for over 5 years. While it is very effective in relieving allergic symptoms like itching eyes, ears, nose, face scalp it has a number of very unpleasant side effects, including: locks up the urinary tract bladder ache back pain leg and muscle cramps pain in the bottoms of feet Low energy level decrease in mental clarity and focus Sharp tickle in back of throat I do not feel the trade offs are worth it and have stopped taking it. Within 2-3 days I stopped experiencing the above side effects. Read More Read Less

I've been taking Allegra/generic, 60mg, 1x/day for many years and it worked very well for my year round allergies. Recently my insurance stopped covering due to OTC status. Taking everyday since the season stated and recently started having an irregular heart beat. Anyone have this problem?

I've been taking Allegra/generic, 60mg, 1x/day for many years and it worked very well for my year round allergies. Recently my insurance stopped covering due to OTC status. It's been very hard trying to find 60mg, found mostly 180mg, so I've been taking periodically and recently started having an irregular heart beat. Anyone have this problem?

I love Allegra or the generic Fexofenadine. Before it was over the counter, I had a prescription, I used 60 mg. once or twice a day. There were good for 12 hours. Most often one pill was enough. So a month bottle would last me 2 months. I just paid my co-payment. I had no headaches or stomach problem with this pill. I take it for all types of Allegrys. I take it most all year round. Then the pill was no more prescription and I could not get it with the co payment. A lot more expensive over the counter. Finally they have come out with the generic but mostly in 24 hr. time release. I got a big bottle at Costco. But I miss my prescription ones. I could not take Claritain is it gave me headaches. I take one 24 hour at bedtime with water. I never knew all the years I had it, you could not take it with juice. But over all works well. Read More Read Less

I've taken allegra before and it works good enough. They don't have the full list of side effects here because its too long. My low back pain last 2-3 hours and itchy skin. Problems sleeping. I know the minute it wears off..My allergies and intolerance are so severe I take benedryl alot too.

I found that taking Allegra made me extremely emotional. I tried taking it at different times just to make sure it wasn't PMS - no luck. I talked with my mom, who is an RN and she experienced the same thing. After taking Allegra, I felt like crying constantly. I had to stop taking it.
