I have a hiatal hernia which lead to esophagitis. I seemed to have a remission for about a year when I started drinking aloe vera juice (look in this, it helps acid reflux) but I have a bit of a return of my acid symptoms so I'm back on this medicine which has worked pretty well in the past. Chest bloating, mild chest pain. A little tip to save money, get the cheaper pill form and a pill crushe...

I have GERD and IBS and have a lot of indigestion and pressure in my chest. This medication has helped tremendously. It takes about 2 weeks for the full effect of the medication, so be patient!

After having esophageal cancer, the doctor asked that I swish with this medicine and swallow. It's been helpful since I had the dry heaves and had a tendancy toward yeast infections in the esophagus.

My story is similar to a number of others listed above. I have GERD. The Nexium alone did not stop it. Carafate has improved my condition. Not perfect, but improved.

I have been taking this medicine for a little over 4 months now. The timing of the medicine is a pain as you can't eat or take any other medication within 2 hours but I think it has helped my Bile reflux problem pretty decently. It is the most expensive medicine I take (liquid version) but well worth it I think.

Due to having a pinhole entry to my stomach due to two ulcers at the top of my stomach, it's been hard for me to swallow the carafate and later keep the medication and any food down.

Had a persistant sore back of the throat in the morning due to reflux. Seems to be working. Also, I take immuran for schleroderma and have been fighting hand warts on my elbows for years. Either it's my immagination or since I've beent taking this medication the warts are shrinking and abating?

I was diagnosed in 2003 with severe GERD. My Dr. prescribed Nexium 40mg twice a day. The Nexium helped and I was able to go to once a day. I found out a month ago my gallbladder had "sludge" in it and it had to be removed. My heartburn came back worse than before. My Dr. prescribed the liquid Carafate to take with Nexium. It has worked wonders for the reflux. I can actually sleep in bed now. Haven't noticed any side effects except for dry mouth. Great medicine.

I just started taking this medicine and I have a lot of itching starting about 30 minutes after taking it and I get a rash only on my right arm. Also my lips will start burning for a few minutes then the burning feeling eases up.

Have been on this med for about 6 months for chronic GERD and ulcer issues. Hasn't really helped or hurt me but am not really getting any results from it. Expensive med, thank god I have health insurance or couldn't afford it. Bit better than over the counter Malox but not much. Wish it was more effective.
