I call it my "happy ring". I am on my 4th one at the end of a year. I am 71 yrs. old and had a hysterectomy in l991. Vaginal dryness made intercourse intolerable. This solved all of my problems. I do not need to remove it during relations, and there is plenty of lubrication and no discomfort whatsoever. It is a miracle ring.

I tried the the Estring to relieve dryness and vaginal atrophia. I have had a hysterectomy and since i have used a diaphragm before, I thought this would work for me. It is very uncomfortable especially while sitting. It feels like low level cramping and really uncomfortable during bowel movements. I tried repositioning it but it reverts up behind the pelvic bone and increases pressure. After...

I am a 57 year old woman who is still having periods, but am probably in perimenopause. I was having problems with vaginal dryness and pain during intercourse, even with lubricants. The Estring ring has helped me immensely. Now, intercourse is not painful at all and I am normal natural vaginal discharge once again. No problems with dryness and no problems with weight gain. The only symptom I'm having is painful breasts right before my period. This ring has been phenomenal for me.

My only problem is getting the estring out, have to go into the doctor's office to have it removed, but other than that it works great for me.

Just hit the 3 month mark and have replaced my first a estring with a second one. I'm delighted with the results and I may even speak for my husband who is pleased that sex doesn't hurt (me) now! I am 60, he is 45 and we've had a long period of little to no love making. Some time ago, I tried estrogen laced cream and couldn't stay with it ... Too messy. My gynecologist recommended the Estring and I'm so happy it works for me. Given the high cost ... $240 plus per ring, I researched and found that at Canadian pharmacy I pay about 1/4 the US pharmacy price. Yes! Try It ...Read More Read Less

I don't know how it work yet. I just put it in his morning. I am 50 years old, and had a Hysterectomy at age 32. I haven't been very sexually active for a few years, and am a very petite woman anyway. Are you supposed to be able to actually FEEL it inside of you? It seems HUGE to me Is this normal? I don't know about 1/3 of the way in there, I can feel it right at the entrance to my vagina. Will I need to have my doctor put it in? I have no problem getting it back out. However, I can not imagine trying to have intercourse with that huge ring in there. Most men would find that in there and not want any part of that. would definatly remove I beforehand! Will it continue to feel this way? It certainly isn't very comfortable. Why is it so big?Read More Read Less

I'm 58 and stopped having periods about 2-3 years ago. My symptoms have been relatively minor but have been really suffering from vaginal dryness. My husband and I both have lubed up to the point that we could go sliding off the bed. I finally broke down and got the Estring and I am SO happy that I did. My doctor said I wouldn't notice anything for 5-6 weeks. Well honey, I'm here to tell you that it's been a week and I'm plenty lubricated...even without any sexual stimulation. So far, I haven't experienced any side effects. Yeah, sometimes it tends to work its way forward but I can totally live with that. In fact, it's helping me to not strain so hard when I have a BM which not only keeps the ring in place but is so much better for my colon. I'm happy, happy, happy!Read More Read Less

I had a hysterectomy over 18 years ago and I suffered from vaginal dryness and atrophy for a long time. The estrogen creams were too messy to continue use. I was having frequent bladder infection due to the loss of my cervix and the fact that the vaginal area was so dry and shrunken. I went to a urinologist for treatment of my bladder infections and was prescribed the Estring. It was supposed to "fluff" the tissue up in that area. It has worked great from my dryness and vaginal atrophy. The only discomfort i have is the discharge that goes along with it. I can tell when its time to replace it because my vagina dries out again. Overall, pretty pleased.Read More Read Less

I have used the estring for about 2 yrs. Initially i liked the ease of use and the effect on the vaginal tissue. However, recently I have experienced mild nausea, bloating diarrhea, particularly the first few days after inserting a new ring. I consider this a warning that something is not right. When I took the ring out symptoms subsided. I will try the cream in the future.

Had an abdominal hysterectomy, with cervix removal 20 years ago. Am 68, experiencing vaginal dryness and vaginal atrophy, which makes intimate relations with my husband uncomfortable. Doctor prescribed Estring upon my request, although she was not familiar with the ring. I had a real problem keeping the ring in place, it kept slipping down. Again talked to the doctor and she felt that because I do not have a cervix to help keep the ring high in the vagina, the Estring will not work for me - or for anyone who has had a hysterectomy. Nowhere in the Estring Patient Information booklet does it indicate that this ring will not work for anyone with a hysterectomy history. A lot of money wasted on this product that I can't use!!!Read More Read Less

Inserted on Friday night. No problem. Woke up with a bad migraine on Saturday. Spent half the day getting rid of the migraine. Next day milder migraine symptoms that went away by late morning. Sunday PM developed another severe migraine that sent me to my bed early. Took out the ring on Sunday night and threw it away. Cost me 120 dollars. They should give a deep discount on the first one to see if you can tolerate it.

I kept the ring in for 6weeks but I had to take it out because of leg cramps and my hair falling out. Was very satisfied with it making my dryness issue go away. Hope I can find something else to take without these issues.

I am 54 and have used Estrace Cream for last 4 years. Was tired of having to insert an applicator full every other night and wearing a panty liner the next day. Also the cream didn't provide a uniform result and I always still burned after intercourse. My Doctor suggested I try the Estring for 3 months and see what I thought. Have been using Estring for 8 weeks now and just love the results I am getting. My Vagina feels normal again and doesn't hurt during intercourse or burn afterwards. However, there are some down sides to this drug. My husband can feel it and it is not comfortable for me either- so now I take it out before sex. Another thing is It never feels like it is inserted properly even though I insert it into the vagina as far as I can, and by the end of each week I am swollen inside and uncomfortable with it riding so low in the vagina and my side aches (I do push it back up throughout the week). So, for the last two weeks I have been removing the ring on Friday night and inserting it back on Sunday night before I go to bed. This gives me a break over the weekend. By Monday Morning everything is back to normal & I usually don't feel the the discomfort from the ring again until about thursday aafternoon. This seems to be the only way I can use this drug. I will finish out my three months and then take a month or so using the cream again and then go back to the ring for another 3 months. Hope this review helps. I would recommend you at least try it and try different things like I am to make it work. The results are awesome it's just the discomfort that is not.Read More Read Less

I was using this drug to help strengthen the vaginal walls after bladder surgery. I had a hysterectomy many years ago. I have problems keeping it in place but the worst problem is extreme itching and irritation. Almost unbearable. I will no longer use this ring because of that. Wish it had worked for me because I won't use oral hormones due to history of heart problems.

I have had estring for 2 months for post menapausalvaginal atrophy and painful sex. I have no discomfort except for sexual pain. It is no better. It's so discouraging that sex is still extrememly painful - searing, burning pain. I wonder if vagifem would work better?

Inserted ring 6 weeks ago. No major problems, just infrequent morning headaches. I'm dieting, and weight is still coming off so it isn't hindering weight loss. I FEEL BETTER, with MORE ENERGY, and MUCH LESS DISCOMFORT SEXUALLY. Hope things continue to improve.

Could only use for about 3 weeks. Swelling and burning sensations after about a week of use. Could not keep it in place and it would come out while exercising. The hard plastic ring was difficult to place and it could be felt. Cost $183.00. Weight gain of about seven pounds during the 3 weeks I used it. I took it out until I can talk to my doctor. Also I am concerned about the blood clot issues because I have large veins in my legs. Would not recommend for the cost/weight gain problems.

I have been on Estring for 2 years and love it! No more vaginal dryness and no other side effects. I totally forget it's inserted and have to rely on my calendar to remind me it's time for a refill prescription.

For approximately 3 years, post menopause, the vaginal burning and dryness became something I began to live with. I tried purchasing numerous creams and vaginal lubricants, none of which actually helped. Sex was very painful. At my annual gyn exam, I expressed that I did not believe that I would ever have anormal sex life again. This year, my physician recommended Estring. Long story short, the vaginal dryness is almost completely gone and my sex life is back to normal. I am amazed that so many woman are silent about this problem which seems to be rampant among post menopausal women. It has been the only product that was successful and I tried most products sold in pharmancies and tried many so called holistic products purchased over the internet. I would recommend trying this product. I was very hesitant but so happy I did.Read More Read Less

I am 52 and had a total laparoscopic vaginal hysterectomy done 6 weeks ago and developed a grade 1 rectocele post-op. At my 6 week check up, my gyn and I decided to trial the Estring to see if it would help with the semi-discomfort my anterior rectocele was causing me. She inserted it. I was optimistic with reports on website postings, but had to remove it after 4 days due to continual discomfort, even after repositioning it. It also made me feel bloated, and there was nothing to bloat in my lower abdomen-it had all been removed, but my pelvic area felt like I was on my period. Maybe some body types don't adapt well to this appliance. It's a 5cm semi-stiff ring and too bad it is not more flexible. I can't imagine wearing it and exercising. Also, Pfizer, the manufacturer, has not done studies on intermittent use and storage of the device-I called them. I think they should, as many women may wish to use it intermittently. It was too early to tell if the device helped my rectocele. It wasn't in there long enough to know. The concept is a good one - lowest levels out there for estradiol to the vagina, but wish they could come up w/a device that wasn't so big and so stiff. I am an RN, so I did a lot of research on various .org websites before purchasing. My co-pay was $30 so I feel like it was worth trying it for that amount. Sounds like others have had better luck than I did.Read More Read Less
