This is a good med. I have been chronic pain patient following car accident 10years ago. I was on oxycontin and percocet for break through... this is better. It took three months before I think I got the full effect of what it cold do for me. Something about the receptors being fully turned on for this med. I was frustrated at first, needing something for breakthrough. I am glad I trusted the phys...

I've been on this medication for 5 yrs+ & it can be very effective, but I warn you about being on it for that long & having a problem with insurance paying for it ($1,200 a mon. at my pharmacy) & then running out. I've been deathly ill from the withdrawls from this med. I recommend trying to keep some aside in case you might run short, for even a short time,to keep from going through it. I was fortunate enough to have something for breakthrough pain that I could use to get by. I personally recommend Actiq lozenges(more like a lollipop) to deal with extremes of chronic pain, when you can find it(outrageous cost $5 to $6,000 without insur.)Read More Read Less

I have fibromyalgia and switched to opana 20mg 3x day from the fentanyl patches this summer because the patches were giving me rashes and discomfort from the heat. I had some withdrawls even being on the on the opana. But now that the withdrawls are long gone the opana has helped a lot with my joint and muscle pain. I have no side effects at all and my pain is a lot more manageable.

I take opana er 30 mg and opana 5 mg for breakthru pain. I started this med because the Fentynol Patches,( I have been on 7 different pain medicines),which really eased my pain cause so much nausea. I have Lupus, Fibro, RA, and Lupus nephritis. I will say that I have had some relief in the beginning and is now not working. It has caused alot of abdominal destress also.

I switched from Karian 60mg ER to Opana ER 20mg about 2 weeks ago. While I am getting some relief for my lower back pain caused as a result of me being a victim of an automobile DUI accident, the Opana just hasn't hit my expectations and I find myself having to dbl up on the dosage to feel relief. The one positive thing is zero constipation.

I had cancer as a kid and as a result of surgery on my lower lumbar I have svre pain. I have tried Dilauded,Actiq,Fentoras, etc. This seems to help very much and not as much nausa-sp? as some of the others! I would reccmnd this drug. Again, not for people who are prone to addiction!

It took three months before I think I got the full effect of what it cold do for me. Something about the receptors being fully turned on for this med. I was frustrated at first, needing something for breakthrough. I am glad I trusted the physician and hung in there as my body adjusted to the med. Sure enough it got better and better at managing my pain. So be patient if possible because you will get more out of it if you can just hang in there. I hate taking these types of meds. and just like many can't manage without them. It is nice to only have to take two pills every 24 hours. Actually I never thought it would be enough. It is the "cleanest" drug I have ever tried for chronic pain. I don't feel alot of side effects that always come with these types of meds.Read More Read Less

I have used this med now for about a month, It is easy to use but did not perform as advertised. I have 4 herniated disks in my neck and a shoulder injury. It does relieve some of the pain but not as much as I had hoped.
