I have been able to run longer and with more ease using this medication. My concerns the soreness that I experience after running and the weight that I continue to gain. I exercise on a regular basis, eat right but since I started using this medication I can't seem to control my weight which wasn't a problem before.

After taking the meds, I still experience shortness of breath. Side effects - headaches, back pain, coughing, throat irritation, tiredness, and not sure if the chest pains are related since I have a heart condition. Don't if I will continued the meds.

I have just been prescribed Symbicort. After my initial dose, I noticed a big difference in my breathing within 15 minutes. I couldn't believe the speed of relief. I have used the med for two days now and the "heaviness" in my chest has gone away. I couldn't believe it.

I was on Foradil and began having problems doing any exercise, where for years I only had some trouble running outside. Not knowing that my GP had me taking a medication that only treated part of the symptoms, I've found Symibcort (as prescribed by the pulmonary specialist)a drastic improvement. I haven't used a fast-acting inhaler once in the 5 months I've used it. I can now run outside, and suspect when the winter comes I'll be able to run in colder weather (which I've never been able to do). My only issue is that it seems to affect my voice a bit on some days.Read More Read Less

This medicine tastes disgusting but of course it's not a big deal if it works. It's been 2 weeks since I started. I have eye pain to where I want to keep my eyes closed. I am exhausted from insomnia. I have had to use my rescue inhalor a few times but it could be because my allergies are acting up which effects asthma.I also get what others describes as silent migraines with the weird glare or light blink in my peripheral vision. However, I'm scared to go back to Advair 250/50 because of the salmeterol even though it is related to the formadil. I have been on Advair for years and before that was on Serevent. I have noticed a significant drop in my anxiety since switching to symbicort so that was nice. I have a follow up appt. so I will talk about everything and see if this is going to work for me. Asthma is scary and I hate it! Read More Read Less

Symbicort improved my asthma lung function by 11-14 points,I give it a wonderful rating. Yes, I only use it once a day and it helps tremendously. My overall lung function is in the low 80's now and I am grateful for the drug. You must rinse your mouth good or will get thrush--just use nystatin. I was in the clinical trial for this drug and did very well with it!

Symbicort started out good. It immediately opened my airwaves more so than Advair. But after 3 days, I developed a cough with phlegm. This continuously got worse. But since I didn't have to use my rescue inhaler very much, I continued taking Symbicort. Headaches began, fatigue, ear congestion, horrible taste, and general poor feeling. Finally after 10 days, I got extremely sick with fever, chills, and tightening in the chest. Was put on antibiotics and prednisone in pill form. Quit Symbicort immediately!!! Must be allergic to it. Very scarey! It's back to Advair for me. Read More Read Less

I've had asthma for my entire life, and have been medicated for it for the past 18 years. Before the Symbicort, I was on Advair. I was constantly hoarse and coughing, and my results began to be worse. So, onto the Symbicort, which did seem to help...for a while. Now, I am only slightly better than I was with the Advair, and I have some unpleasant symptoms that may be from this medication. I've gained an enormous amount of weight, even while cutting down on caloric intake. My joints are very sore, which I thought might mean that I had arthritis, but I'm beginning to think might come from this medication. My migraines are more frequent and worse, and...I'm still hoarse, coughing and clogged! I'm thinking of just giving up on all of the medications and dealing with only having 50% of my lung volume available.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with Asthma just over a year ago, I first tried Advair but soon lost my voice almost completely. The doctor changed me to Symbicort and it worked amazingly. Now that I have been on it for about 7 months, it seems to not be working quite as well. I am on the low dose at 2 puffs 2x a day. I am now coughing much more and using my inhaler much more often.

Was on Advair 250 and more often 500 for many years. Symbicort is great. My question is whether you can have therapeutic benefit at 1 puff 2x/day versus 2 puffs 2x/day. Thoughts?

This is the best asthma proactive treatment I've ever used. One small problem - $150 for 120 inhalations (approx 60 datys) is outrageous. Obviously, it is only the very rich that deserve to survive.

I have COPD. I was on advair and refused to contnue due to severe thrush. I breathe better and do not have to use my inhaler as as often as I use to . I have not had any side effects from this medication. Would recommend who is allergic to advair. But that is my opinion.

Have had asthma for three years, and had been on Advair with the side effect of recurrent thrush if I used more than one dose of Low-dose Advair a day. My asthma was getting worse, and my Allergist's NP put me on Symbicort. I use one puff twice a day and have not had to use my rescue inhaler since I started Symbicort. the one problem I did have when I started the med was severe thrush, but I was also on Prednisone at the time. No problems since!

has greatly inproved my breathing and no waking up at night with attacks. However-it has caused me to have silent migranes. It is where you see flashes and lights in your peripheral vision. It has also made me vey tired.

albuterol side effect (tremor) bothers me a lot. Unable to control wheezing after a cold and also due to exposure to tobaco. I am a second hand smoker over 20 years.

2 negatives: it leaves a metal aftertaste in my mouth and it is harder to tract how many doses are left. Advair's delivery system is much better but there is some question of its impact on the vocal chords.
