Years ago, whenever i got a cold it ended up turning into a sinus infection or bronchitis... before this medication was made OTC, i would have to always go to the doctor who would prescribe me the exact formula that Mucinex D contains. Ever since taking this when getting a cold i have avoided bronchitis and sinus infections. The only negative side affect i have incurred is sometimes i have had tro...

I am a healthy, active 61 yr old female. I have none of the â?? Do Not Take â??conditions which are posted on the Mucinex D box. A friend suggested I try Mucinex D when I developed a cough along with heavy mucus. After following the manufacturers directions for six days, one tablet every 12 hours, I was hospitalized with a heart beat at 171. Medical bills out of pocket over $5000.00, A stress ...

It advertises 12 hour relief. I only got about half that. I took one of of the pills at 9:00 am for stuffy nose and not able to breath through it. I got great relief until 3:00 pm. Then my misery was back and I was not able to take another dose until 9:00 again. This is very dissappointing considering the money spent.

I had an aggravating cough and post nasal drip and needed some relief, normally when I'm sick I tend not take medications under the belief that cold medicines aren't effective enough and I might as well just tough it out. A coworker noticed my cough and advised me to take Mucinex, she said I'll love it. I took her advice and I am actually impressed with it's effectiveness. As I said earlier, I coughed and cleared my throat throughout the day at work, picked up the Mucinex at six that evening, took a nap around 7 til 8:15pm.. When I woke up, I forgot that I felt bad earlier. I didn't have any cough episodes and my nasal passages are clear. I do feel somewhat alert but I am really happy to be feeling better and energized. Effective product, any time I feel a cold or flu on the way, I will immediately seek Mucinex. Read More Read Less

Never again. I took this medication with the hopes of clearing up a pretty bad chest cold and cough. I took one at about 10:30 p.m. and within in an hour started to get the chills. My body temperature was going nuts, as I would be freezing for 5 minutes and sweating for another 5 minutes. Then the jitters set in. My heart was racing, and I could not lie still. It literally felt as though it was beating out of my chest. The product did nothing for congestion or my cough. I also experienced hallucinations and at one point had a seemingly out of body experience. It wasn't until about 4 hours later that these side effects started to subside. I was stunned the next day from what I experienced, so I went online to do some reading. Evidently what I experienced is not all that uncommon. If you are looking for something to control your chest congestion, go with Robitussin DM. Mucinex is poison. Read More Read Less

I use this for my severe bronchitis I get every year or so. It actully opens your lungs to help you breath. With out it I was having such severe symptoms that I was nearly passing out from shortness of breath. I use this along with an inhaler I get from my doctor. In 1-2 weeks I am good as new. One of the best products out there.

This product worked great, I would recommend taking this, for the most part! I did get scared while taking this because I got a fast heartbeat, only sleep 3 hrs in 2 days, loss of appetite, and all of the other hidden side effects.. I thought I was going to have a heart attack or something! Taking this worked great for my cold, but I felt like this is what it would be like to be on crack or some other hard drug. I wish the box would have said, "may cause you to be sleepless" because that was the worst!!Read More Read Less

It did what it said - stopped my runny nose, but it also caused me to have only 3 hours of sleep. I was WIRED last night, and could feel it even 12 hours later.

i hardly ever get colds, but when i do they always and very quickly turn to sinus inffections.the product worked well for the releif of sinus congestion, drink plenty of water as this works well with the pill to break-up and drain the mucus. the only side effect i expierenced was no appetite..or even feeling a little hungry, though try to take somthing in cause working bodys always need fuel.

I love this medication. Was thrilled when it was available OTC. It works great and within a short time. I have had no side effects from it at all. Never have. The best cold med on the market;-)

I agree with the other reviews. I just took one dose and it made SOOOOO sleepy. I also have a slight headache which I will now probably pop a tylenol as other reviewers have suggested. Do not operate machinery or drive a car with this. The CVS where I bought it requires ID to show you're over 1; now I understand why. I am sooo loopy and sleepy, I feel like I'm on a cloud. Stuffiness, cough are gone but now I have a sore throat b/c it doesn't have any tylenol/advil type meds in it. So, supplement, if this is a sympton you have as well. Hope this helps...Read More Read Less

HELP!! I need this drug out of my system! This is my second painful go-around with it. I did not realize a week ago when I first tried it that it was the culprit that made me so ill then after not taking it a few days I improved then tried it again today because of sinus issues and man I was deathly sick once again. The side effects included: severe diarrhea, stomach cramping, dilated pupils, chills, elevated bp, slight dizziness, lack of appetite, nausea, and back pain. I took the maximum strength (1200 mg) extended release bi-layer tablets. NEVER AGAIN! Wish someone could tell me how to get this gone quicker. I'm drinking lots of water.Read More Read Less

Had absolutely no idea this drug would hurt my stomach and give me diarrhea as bad as it did. Also, increased my bp with diastolic reading as high as 102....hate this med even if it did help with sinus, cough and congestion...not worth the risks! Had other side effects like dilated pupils, headache and chills.

I have taken Mucinex for many colds and sinus infections and it really works with breaking up the congestion in my chest and sinuses. One thing I noticed that is different for me than what other reviewers are noting is that I seem to get the best sleep with this medication. It makes me feel a bit drowsy and because of that I only take 1 a day when I am having a cold or sinus problems (I take it at night before going to bed). Does anyone else get sleepy when they take this med?

I love mucinex D and thought that Mucinex D maximum strength would only be better. Wrong, although my cough was kept at bay for 7 hours, my stomach hurt so bad I was up every hour eating crackers and tums....will go back to regular mucinex tonight so that I can sleep.

I recently had a bad sinus infection and used maximum strength Mucinex DM. The product worked as far as draining the sinuses and stopping the cough. But the side effects I had were not worth using this product again. I was totally drained of any energy, tightness in chest, foggy head. It took me five days on this product before I figured out it could be the Mucinex making me feel worse. There was no information on the bottle I had in my medicine cabnet. It must have been in the box when it came and got thrown away. I had to get on the web site to see side effects. Once off the product, and started feeling better and back to my old self. Anyone that has trouble with some medications should stay clear of this product. Read More Read Less

I have been taking Mucinex D to eliminate the extra fluid in my ears due to allergies/sinuses. It does help relieve the pain/fullness in my ears. However, I can only take this during the day or I won't sleep at all during the night. I also feel nervous, jittery as it says on the box. I switch to Benadryl if my symptoms are bad at night.

This pill is very effective, so long as you catch it early, but I only take one pill a day due to the side effects that everyone has already listed. I do get headaches from it sometimes, but nothing tylenol won't help. I also agree that it's way too big, but overall I have been happy with this.

Helped alot with post nasal drip that caused uncontrolled coughing--even with cough medicine and antihistamines. The only downside is that I have trouble sleeping. Will try it earlier in the evening.

I love Maximum Strength Mucinex D. It is the only thing that works for my during colds and it unusually prevents me from getting sinus infections. My MD used to prescribe a RX that was the same ingredients. I wished the Pills were a bit smaller, but I still love it.

My sinuses have been completely congested, to the point where I couldn't blow anything out and couldn't swallow w/o feeling like I was choking. I've been on Muc. D Ex.Str. for a day and a half. I feel pretty good, though I did wake up throughout the night, I'm really dehydrated and a gate waves of headache pain ...definately a trade off for the relief from the nasal congestion.
