In 2008 my convoy was struck by an IED and I took shrapnel in my right foot and leg. After I got back stateside I said to hell with VA hospital and since I am still under 25 I had this option with my parents insurance. Well after many futile attempts at finding a surgery that would be beneficial my GP made it apparent I'm wasting my time. So meanwhile im taking lortab 10mg x5 a day and for 2yrs I ...

I have had chronic lower back pain, scoliosis, my whole life. Been on pain meds routinely for 35 years. MS Contin helps a lot and I'm mostly comfortable, although is takes forever to start working and lasts about 6 hours. I take 150 mg in divided doses per day. I also take Morphine ir 30mg for break thru pain. Keep these meds locked up and don't tell anyone you are on it. Fillers can be annoying, especially Niacin.

I was on this medication and it helped lower my pain level to about a 3. I was taking it for chronic sciatica, but now none of my local drug stores carry it. I had to be put on something different that doesn't help half as much and my new meds are very expensive.

COMING OFF OXYCONTIN , CELEBREX AND OXYCODONE THAT I WAS ON FOR OVER 10 YEARS, I FOUND THIS ALTERNATIVE DRUG WAS NOT AS EFFECTIVE, BUT SOMETHING THAT I COULD DEAL WITH. I ALSO HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH PULMONARY ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION IN THE PAST 8 MONTHS, AND I AM NOW WONDERING IF THIS IS A GOOD COMBINATION FOR ME

After a number of years on Norco, my dr. switched me to MS-Contin as Norco just was not effective anymore. Rather than take 2 Norco's every 4-6 hrs for pain, I am just having to take one MS-Contin every 12 hrs or so and use the 15 mg IR for breakthough pain. It has be very effective. My only complaint is a minor side effect of constipation, which I hope over time will become less. It's nice not to have to take pills every 4-6 hrs when one will do it for almost 12 hrs. It's been a blessing for me and the quality of life is so much better.Read More Read Less

I don't really like the kinds of medications with unusual contents, usually the slow release like this one, as they contain different odd binding agents, waxy or even a type of plastic in some cases, I'm not crazy about ingesting such things, but I digress… They are easy to use, but the reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because I don't care for the unusual makeup of the pills. Regarding it's efficacy, in my personal experience, my doctor & I have found that only the highest doses work for me. I really wish a lower dose would work for me, I don't know if it's just the brand I got (I got some generic brand), if it's just that morphine doesn't do as much for me as it does for others, or if another drug would work better for me. My doctor seems to really like using this MS Contin for severe, chronic pain, & I don't feel it would be appropriate for me to make my own suggestion, though I could, but it could also come across in a way it shouldn't.Read More Read Less

It was discovered I had 3 herniated discs (L1/L2 being the worst). This caused extreme pain in my back and leg. I had 3 emergency rooms trips in 3 weeks for pain relief until this was prescribed for me. This has been great medication for this leg pain.

I was on Oxycontin and my Doc switched me to a larger dose of MS contin I am not happy with the pain I am still having with thid drug being used by me every 8 hours. The pain releief is subtle and takes forever to work. I dont recommend it for Chronic Severe Pain Oxycontin or Dilaudid is 100 times better

After asking to be taken off OxyContin after about 7 years, my Dr. helped me. It required taken several smaller doses for about 18 months. However the RA,OA, and Neuropathic pain was again keeping me from any form of movement. i waited several months until I could chronicle my need need to be back on a stronger drug. I had hoped of and dreamed about going back to work. I missed Truck Driving, I missed being on the road, seeing the Country and talking with people from around the USA.Once I came face to face with the fact that I would never be able to drive for living again. The med that I am on helps me to get through the day with a minimum of pain and helps me to be able to do other things, like walking and reading. These drugs get a bad rap.If you can recognize when it's time for a break from the drug, you will know when it's time return. Find a good Dr. I have been seeing my Dr. for about 14 years. He has been with me thru the good and the bad. Trust, that is what you need with your Dr. You can't just make an appt. go in and start laying all your aches and pains, even if their legit.on a first visit. I have good expect ions for this med. in the short term. Read More Read Less

Well after many futile attempts at finding a surgery that would be beneficial my GP made it apparent I'm wasting my time. So meanwhile im taking lortab 10mg x5 a day and for 2yrs I hated life thinking I will never feel close normal and was ready to make my exit with a 45.acp tp my dome. Luckily I have a great GP and told him how I felt about my outlook to never walk right, run, jump etc etc and that the lortab is worthless except for making my stomach hurt and making me feel like a junky piece of sh*t. He said lets try oral morphine sulphate. I took his advice with nothing to lose and that was the best thing that happened to me since. This medication saved my life. It is so much better then anyother pain medication ive ever heard about. It doesn't Fu*k your head up or leave your stomach feeling like you just ate glass. It is clean medication not all these synthetics that have patients hating life. Thank you for reading and godbless.. Read More Read Less
