I read the reviews two nights ago after I had received Synvisc One in my left knee. I have no cartilage left and have exhausted all other options. The reviews made me nervous. It was too late to turn back. My knee was uncomfortable after the shot (felt like a wedge of rubber was stuffed in my knee joint). But I kept telling myself, you've gone from no cartilage to what amounted to full cartilage. ...

I got Synvisc One injected into both knees three days ago and the immediate pain of the injection was horrible. The doctor said the medication was very thick and hard to push in. I am pretty tough but the pain almost made me sick and feel faint. I have taken the Synvisc of three injections two years ago and did great with them. I think I even came home from the doctor and worked outdoors. Not so, with Synvisc One. I had to have my family member get a wheelchair from the doctor's office to wheel me to our car. I couldn't straighten my knee out and forget being able to bear any weight on it. The swelling and pain were totally debilitating. The last 2 days I have had to be wheeled through my house in an office chair! I called the office where I received these injections and told the nurse of the severity of my symptoms. She acted shocked and said they have never had a patient that couldn't walk out of the office after receiving the injections, which made me feel really lousy. Of course, I hadn't found this website yet. I am on the third day now and THANK GOD, I am able to stand with knees still bent, with a cane. I don't know how many days I'll be on a can or when I can straighten my leg out to bear full weight. I have contacted the mfg. and was told that their data says you are more likely to have negative reactions if you are a repeat Synvisc user, and I am. I'm not sure I buy their story. I personally believe that one injection of 6 ml. is too much fluid to be inj. into a knee joint at one time. The Synvisc three inj. are 2 ml. given at three different times over three weeks. I don't think it has anything to do with a "reaction" because they swear the medication is the exact same, the dosage is just tripled. I WILL NEVER HAVE SYNVISC ONE AGAIN! If I get over this, I might consider Synvisc 3 somewhere down the road. Anyone out there considering Synvisc One, I'd read all these bad results on here and consider the Synvisc 3. Run from Synvisc One.Read More Read Less

I have just received my third Synvisc One Each injection has provided me with 6 months of relief. I am a CNA and on my feet 8+ hrs. a day. These injections are the only thing that has worked for me. There is some stiffness for about 48hrs after and I start to feel maximum relief about 3 weeks after. Would not go without them!

I have a torn right knee meniscus tear and OA of both knees. The pain was very bad and my MD suggested the SynviscOne injection. For three days after taking injection I was in such extreme pain that I had to stay in bed taking narcotics. My knees were swollen and felt "full". The day after the injection I had chills and pain all over my body. Had to be out a week from work. Its been two weeks since I had the injection and the pain is much worse than before I had the injection. I can't stand for long periods of time and walking with a limp and a cane. Still continue with the NSAIDS( which don't even help anymore) and have to take VICODIN to go to sleep at night because the pain is so bad. I am still hoping that this works for me down the line since I have read in the literature that it may take up to a month to get some relief. I am not sure if I will do this again.Read More Read Less

Major knee injury and surggery 30 years ago. Constant moderate but liveable pain since. I have tolerated the series of 3 Synvisc injections well, 5 times, and they have helped greatly. Three weeks ago I had my first SynviscOne injection. I woke up SCREAMING IN PAIN at 3am. Literally screaming for 2 days, on crutches for 10 days. 3 weeks out, I am still walking with a cane and can only walk 30 or 40 feet before the pain gets so bad i have to sit. Can not sleep at night due to intense pain. I am wondering if this dramatically increased disability will last forever, but can get no straight info. My doctor office did not warn of the possibility of such a violent reaction and is unwilling to do anything about it. I was told that such reactions can happen in up to 1% of patients and are most often in knees with little or no joint space, and major arthritic changes. Use at your own risk!! And may God help you if you do have such a reaction, because the doctors and the company won't!!!Read More Read Less

I USED SYNVISC 3 WITH THE FIRST KNEE AS WELL. EXCELLENT RESULTS. WITH MY SECOND KNEE, I USED SYNVISC ONE. THE NEEDLE WAS MUCH SMALLER AND IT STARTED WORKING WITHIN A FEW DAYS. I TELL EVERYONE ABOUT IT. FOR ME, IT WAS AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT.

I had surgery (repaired meniscus) on both knees, followed up w/Synvisk. Shots extremely painful lots of side effects. Allergic reaction - swelling, extreme pain, couldn't walk for a month, broke out it strange itchy rash that comes and goes, lasting for 6 mos. Treatment left me with more pain than I started with. Both knees swelled up immediately and remain quite painful. Would not ever do this again, left me worse than i ever imagined.

Had the synvic one injection and waited he five weeks before putting any real stress on the knee. Then resumed playing hockey. Synvic one worked for about 4 weeks now I am back to the same knee pain and swelling I had when I first got the injury. Not happy and not impressed after spending $440 on this useless piece of gel.

I am 32 years old with OA and am too young for a knee replacement. My ortho suggested Synvisc One. It has been 4 weeks since the shot and I have absolutely no change in my knee at all. If anything it may be worse. Still grinding and popping, still swollen, still really painful when I stand, and can't fully straighten my knee. I am very disappointed.

I only had this shot 3 days ago but the side effects are pretty bad. I had an injection of steroids that hurt bad getting and didn't do anything for me. This shot hurt a little less but as of today I have nothing but fear left. I can barely walk and the pain is really very bad. I am icing it and trying to remain positive. I am going to update this in a week, hopefully it will be a better review.

I've used synvisc 1 before with some side effects, but this time was excruciating! Doc said severe allergic reaction. 3 weeks later I am still in severe pain, both knee's, unable to bare weight for any extended time. doing water therapy, icing, resting. stretching often as tolerated, swollen.Doc says will get better in time. How much time? Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help me!!!

It's hasn't been a week yet, but I do feel the difference. No snapping/popping of the knee joint. Keeping fingers crossed it works. The shot was not bad at all!

My husband had knee surgery and within months was hurting again and limping really bad. Did the Synvisc shot and within one month was totally pain free. Had no trouble with the shot, no pain, no stiffness. He is very active and can anything he wants pain free. He will take the shot again when needed.

Received Synvisc 1 injection in knee one week ago. Have had arthroscopic surgery on the knee twice and been diagnosed with osteoarthritis. Receiving the injection was "uncomfortable" but not screaming pain. Ice was applied intermittently for 6-8 hours following the injection. In the last week the response has been discomfort in all parts of the leg but the knee. Muscle in calf aches (throbs), area in back of knee aches, standing after being seated for more than 10 minutes is painful and difficult requiring time to get the knee to feel lubricated before it can take weight. If sleeping with leg bent it causes discomfort upon straightening of the leg. Literature indicates full benefits from Synvisc 1 can take up to 12 weeks. If my situation improves I will re-evaluate this review.Read More Read Less
