I read the reviews two nights ago after I had received Synvisc One in my left knee. I have no cartilage left and have exhausted all other options. The reviews made me nervous. It was too late to turn back. My knee was uncomfortable after the shot (felt like a wedge of rubber was stuffed in my knee joint). But I kept telling myself, you've gone from no cartilage to what amounted to full cartilage. ...

Had the 3 shots as prescribed. My left knee is actually worse now and I can't walk like I use to. I would of been better off not taking this injection. I have stairs in my home and coming down is unbearable at the age of 58. Would not recommend this product whatsoever since I feel worse than when I first started the procedure. Very upset and disappointed! Oh before I forget, the injection hurt like hell and I had tears coming down my face.

I have bad Osteoarthritis in both knees. Have used 5 part Supartz shots in the past that worked so great and lasted 2 yrs each time. This time, insurance would only approve for Synvisc One shot which so far has been a nightmare. The injections hurt so bad, it took 20 minutes extra before I could "limp" out of my doctor's ofc. Icing and leg elevation did not stop the pain and swelling from the shot. I am just 12 days post injections and I still hurt worse than before the injections. Pain in total legs, not just knees. Muscle spasms, nausea and headaches. Cannot do any normal activities. I am hoping this calms down soon and works like Supartz did. I hate this and will never do this again. Don't like the insurance company dictating what my treatment should be. I want to use what works. If this gets better I will update this review. I think the shot is too much at one time. I would rather do a 5-part Supartz.Read More Read Less

I have had two of these shots six months apart. The first time was very painful both during and for a few weeks after. I did not have a serious allergic reaction, but I did experience significant instability in one knee. However, after a month the relief was significant and I was able to increase my activity 10/fold. The second time, I informed the Doctor of the pain and he injected the knees much more slowly. This made the injection much less jarring and painful. I also wore a light cloth brace without straps on the more unstable knee. I think all of the temporary discomfort is worth it to have months of relief.Read More Read Less

Had my first shot in both knees and had a 75% reduction in pain the first day, 6 months later I had another round and the relief was immediate, It's a God sent for sure.

works better one one knee than the other, but it's simply magic. I've had it twice so far and the little swelling from the injections went away in 2 days. NO SIDE EFFECTS. Walked 1 1/2 miles this morning. I make sure the surgeon does the injections, I think that nurses and assistants may miss (happened to me). Insist on the surgeon.

Synvisc One is horrible, I'd rather take the three Synvisc shots. After Synvisc One I couldn't walk for two weeks. Even with the three shots I question the if it's worthwhile.

I have moderate OA in my left knee that was causing me so much pain that I couldn't walk without a brace and was starting to need a cane, and was in pain with every step. After the first Synvisc One injection, my knee hurt a lot for three weeks and then the pain went away and the knee was dramatically better. I had my second shot today, four months later, and have been almost entirely pain free for those four months. I feel this has given me my life back and I am so very happy to have had the opportunity to use Synvisc. I cannot recommend it highly enough.Read More Read Less

I have been having Synvisc-One injections for 6 years now in both knees and have been pleased. I had my yearly one a week ago and I am so regretting it. within 3 hours of the injections I became sick feeling like I was going to throw up with cold sweats that continued all day into the night. The swelling and pain kept me bed ridden for 2 days because I was unable to standup from a seated position without help. The swelling is less but I am unable to hardly walk or drive where I don't feel pain and having continuing cramps and spasms in both knees. As I said I was doing this as yearly maintenance and was walking over 12,000 steps a day. Now, I am lucky if I walk 1,200. Called the doctor and they said they've never heard of this! I am scared to death this is permanent or it is going to cause me to get knee replacements. Unreal that after 6 years this happens...makes me wonder if something wasn't changed in the formula that I am reacting to. Read More Read Less

This is the 5th time I have had the one shot of Synvisc in each knee. I have moderate arthritis on the left and more severe on the right. Most of my pain is right behind the knee caps - clicking, instability, pain, etc. Getting the shots, I have had doctors use cooling spray to numb before and doctors who haven't. To be honest, it doesn't make much difference. The injection pain I experience on the left knee is tolerable. The injection pain on the right knee is worse than getting a tooth drilled during childbirth. That being said, I can tolerate it for the time it take to complete the injection (barely). Afterwards, it takes me about 10 minutes before I can stand and it is generally painful for 24-48 hours. Ice, ibupropen and rest. The pressure is what hurts the most in my knees. Both feel like balloon about to burst. 24 hours later, a little sore but much more stable and they feel stronger. 48 hours later, left feels about 98% healed, right knee is about 70%. After 5-7 days, it is all good. For the 6-9 months of relieve I get from the shots, it is well worth it for me. Read More Read Less

Damaged knee at work, old injury with 2 previous surgeries. Could scarcely walk when I consulted surgeon and had MRI and Xrays - mencipis gone. He advised knee replacement but suggested I try the injection. Felt the difference almost immediately. Mountain walking is a thing of the past but back in gym fulltime and no limp or pain. Almost six months now. My work entails 1000 stairs plus each day and can handle that to. In short its very effective although the injection itself is somewhat unpleasant!Read More Read Less

I had the shot 5 years ago on left knee and it took 6 weeks for me to recover completely from injection. I had horrible swelling from this first shot and did not want to have another. After 6 weeks the shot worked for 5 years. When it started to hurt again and I had pain in both knees my surgeon did not want to do arthroscopy. Synvisc was my only option. I agreed to have single shot to both knees. I am very active and slightly over did it my 1st week last time. This time I have made an appointment with the couch and an ice pack. I have had minimal swelling. I do not plan to go to the gym for at least another week and will transition into it. I had my shot 3 days ago. Have a little buckle to right knee so jury is still out on 2nd shot. I got this shot 8 weeks prior to a dance event giving me plenty of time to heal. Do not get shot and plan to be active immediately. I hope to get at least a year out of this shot and will update if it does not work.Read More Read Less

I HAVE MODERATE TO SEVERE OSTEOARTHRITIS IN BOTH KNEES AND AM 74. GOT SOME IMMEDIATE RELIEF AFTER THE INJECTIONS BUT AFTER 3 DAYS I COULD REALLY TELL THE DIFFERENCE. IT IS WORKING GREAT AND I AM VIRTUALLY PAIN FREE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS.

I got the bill today for a shot of Synvisc. 48 units (whatever constitutes a unit) at $21 per unit. $1008 for a shot that did absolutely nothing. Nadda, nothing. I hurt my knee 40 years ago when I was 15 years old, had one surgery (which stopped my knee from popping out of place) and now my knee is bone on bone, which they said was osteoarthritis. About 6 years ago I fell down a flight of stairs, which did not help the situation and got a shot of cortisone. The cortisone worked great but kept me awake for 7 days. The first 4 days I got a lot of stuff done but after that I thought I was going to die. So I tried this. Did not help at all and if I would have known it cost over $1000 never would have I done this. Waste of money. And they wonder why we need nationalized health insurance?Read More Read Less

Its only be a few days but the left knee is less painful than before. The right one appears to be worse. It was very painful the day of the injection and the next. I am not regretting doing the injections, but will probably reconsider the next time. Hopefully I will still get some more improvement. Be careful if you have venous stasis. It can be a real issue if you do.

this worked wonders for me - now the insurance companies are not covering it. I do not know why this is being deprived from those who it works for

After reading the reviews, I was very nervous about getting the synvisc one injection for my arthrosis of the knee as many reviews expressed excrutiating pain upon being injected. My doctor used a smaller needle than the one provided and I felt only a slight pinch and light pressure. Feeling great. Please don't get discouraged when reading some of the reviews as complaints usually come from people who have experienced negative results. Those with good results rarely take the time to provide feedback.Read More Read Less

Previously I had the 5 and 3 shot series but switched to the single shot. It's been 9 months and I take advil on bad days but am very happy with the results. I'm 67 and very active and am avoiding knee replacement.
