I have now been on this med. 3+ mos. I have not had any AF what so ever. I think this drug is GREAT! Sometimes I will have some stomach issues, but that's minor. I also take Digoxin, and Toprol Xl. I'm exercising, treadmill, weights, etc. basicly living a normal life. No alcohol or caffeine. I keep updating this site as time passes for the good of others who are in the same boat.

I have taken every antiarrythmic medication, including rythmol, sotalol, amiodarone and now multaq. Although they enitially helped with the problem, eventually they all quit working. The multaq, after 2 doses, stopped a lot of the arrthymias but my heart rate went up to 95 to 120 at will and my blood pressure was up to 190 over 100. I went to the hospital as ordered by my cardiologist. They se...

after startring on this medication along with simvastatin, dilitiazem, coumadin, and colchicine, I felt horrible (sweats, shortness of breath (SOB) and a feeling that I might die, slow heart rate). After the colchicine and simvastatin was stopped, the cold sweats ceased and I felt much better. Now I have a rash with redness and itchiness that has progressed over my body and I continue to feel SOB when I walk esp in the AM. I have not had any serious bouts of AF and no hospital visits since starting the medication.Read More Read Less

The multaq, after 2 doses, stopped a lot of the arrthymias but my heart rate went up to 95 to 120 at will and my blood pressure was up to 190 over 100. I went to the hospital as ordered by my cardiologist. They sent me home without really giving any explaination, just continue with the multaq. I know that the meds summary says that bradycardia is a side effect, but nothing is mentioned about having fast heart rate or high blood pressure as a side effect. I have quit the meds for two days now, and the high blood pressure and fast beating is still a problem and the arrthmias are returning.Read More Read Less

I previously used Rythmol SR 325mg, also have used Amidorone which this drug is sister to. I have had 2 Ablations, one just about 2mos. ago. I feel edgy at times with this drug, like perhaps its working on my thyroid. I would like to talk to someone who has used this drug longer than 1 month. Anyone out there who has used this drug longer than 1 month?

Have tried Sotolol, Flecainide and now Multaq. None have relieved the quickening of my heart rate. With Multaq my heart rate increases but to about 80 beats per minute, compared to up to 130, and lasts 24 hours and it occurs about twice a week on average.

Converted after 5th dose. Heartbeat was noticeably slowed, but I was intially very pleased. Then, after exercise, I went back into AFIB, and remained there for weeks. In and out since, but significantly more AFIB days than not. Am discontinuing to return to tikosyn, which was significantly more effective for me, athough still not as good as amiodarone. I had used amiodarone for years quite successfully, and had hoped this drug would live up to its reputation as acting like amiodarone but without its side effects. With amiodarone at half the normal dosage, I was typically regular for several months, with maybe a two day AFIB hit following. Full strength Multaq just didn't do the job for me, I'm afraid.Read More Read Less

Have tried Sotalol and 4 other drugs all with strong side effects for me. Experience very little, if any, side effects with Multaq. Been taking 3 weeks and have noticed an improvement in my episodes of A Fib.
