I've battled with migraines since I can remember (Im 25 now) Ive tried everything. I got this from my neurologist today and IT HURT SO BAD but within 10 min my light sensitivity and sound sensitivity disappeared and I felt happy. Ive had a migraine everyday for 3 weeks and now its gone. I can feel it slowly coming back but it DOES work. I wish it werent so painful but it is worth it. My kit c...

My daughter has had migraines for several months. During a recent attack, the pain was so bad she couldn't talk or see clearly. She told me to give her a shot (free sample from nurse practitioner). After shot, she broke out in rash and her stomach was convulsing.I called 911.Her blood pressure shot to 172/100.It is usually half that.5 hrs at hospital,4 days recovery, still episodes of dizziness. I just went through a cluster cycle and was given this medication to try by my neurologist. I found it worked just like the other Sumatriptan injectables, but the delivery method was clunky and almost impossible to use in the middle of a bell-ringing cluster headache. I misfired a number of times or created a nice divit in my skin by aiming incorrectly. The pain from the needle free delivery was fairly intense...and I KNOW intense pain. I'm sticking with the standard needle delivery sub-q injections going forward....like Imitrex or Alsuma.Read More Read Less

I have to use approx one to two shots per migraine to get any relief. Bleeding almost always occurs & I have to use a bandaid nearly every time. Bruising sometimes occurs. Run out of places on the side of my legs to give shots when I get a run of migraines in a week or so.

I have had chronic Migraines for over 30 years. It usually takes about 2-3 shots to get rid of a headache. I also have problems with the injector pens not working which is very frustrating. When they do I bleed like crazy at the injection site and bruise but, I am usually desperate to get rid of my headache so at that point I don't care. However, when Maxalt goes generic I will be changing meds.

The injection pen is poorly designed. The recessed pull down lever is difficult to pry out and then even before it is pulled completely down prematurely fires. The delivery system is VERY PAINFUL and caused a significant welt and bleeding. The injection pens have been around for years, but this one is the worst I have seen.

I had another sever migraine a couple weeks ago, and knew from past experience that I would soon be passing out if something didn't nip this one in the bud. My Vicodin presricption wasn't touching it and I couldn't handle any light or sound. My mom drove me to see the doctor for a shot of Toradal, which never got really got rid of my migraines but has helped take the edge off in the past. The doctor suggested trying the Sumavel DosePro as an alternative and I'm glad she did. I went from an 8-9 on the pain scale to a 2-3 in twenty minutes. Nothing, not even IV drips in the past have worked this fast. The intial injection does hurt kind of like a wasp sting and leaves a welt that disappeared in under an hour. I know that its expensive but being able to function and not want to kill myself when the sound of my own breathing hurts is worth it.Read More Read Less

Although I appreciated the releif from the mi8ghtaine, the PAIN from the needle free application needs some fine tuning. I can't imagine a needle application hurting that much.

I have had migraines for over 20 years (2-3/week). I've tried everything from Tylonal to narcotics, Imitrex and now sumavel. I usse the needleless injection and it works great - so much better than needles. It hurts a little going in, but 10-15 minutes later, I feel fine.

I'm writing this response since my wife can't due to the autoinjector not functioning, just tried the 4th one. She's been using this medication for more than a year. We are experiencing about a 30% failed injection rate. They've replaced all of the injectors. But nothing is worse than having a failed medical device. When the device functions it does provide her 12 hours of relief. The medication is fine but the device needs to be re-evaluated/engineered.

Nothing has worked for my migraines until this medication. It absolutely kills to inject and I feel like my head is going to explode minutes after the injection. Then I get a sensation like the skin is melting off of my upper arms but it eventually takes the headache away and I can function normally within an hour which is more than I can say for everything else I've tried. My only concern is what it is doing to my body long term.

I have to agree that it is a painful injections. I have a migraine everyday, but I can have severe ones that last about 2 to 3 weeks. When I inject myself with the medication it makes the migraines go to a dealable level within 15 minutes. I love this medication because I don't have to spend my day in the bed. I inject myself and I keep going. None of the pills work at giving my any relief. I have 4 children and I need something to help. This medication is very expensive, but I would rather pay the money and not have to spend days in the bed. Read More Read Less

The shot is painful and leaves a welt when I use it, but that pain is much better than the migraine. I usually have relief within 45 minutes to an hour. I use this about twice a month and as painful as the shot is, it works great for me with no symptoms or lasting effects afterwards.

After having tried triptans before, with no relief I was not expecting anything but I had promised my Dr I would try it. After all, it was a free sample. IT WORKED!!! I am a migraine survior of 38 yrs, and the only thing that worked was PanlorSS, untill they pulled it off the market. I am so thankful for Sumavel.Sometimes, I need a pain pill along with it - but at least I have something in my purse as opposed to a trip to the urgent care !

With in 2 mins I automatically had side effects. I had blurred visison, dry heaving, almost fainted and also had to lay down and my Dr. had to give me a anti-nausea pill along with a benadryl. IT WAS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was traveling home from an event and had a headache trying to start so I just pull out my pen and injected it into my skin and within minutes I could feel it working on my headache. Fastest of all the medicines I taken orally but not as fast as the IV at the hospital.

Although headache was finally relieved two hrs after injection, it returned within the next 2 hours and I had to take a Sumatriptan tablet for relief. The Sumavel injection was quite painful, leaving blood and swelling. That would be worth it if it had been more effective. I was also left with overwelming weakness for several hours after dosing. Not going to try this again unless desperate -- will still with Sumatriptan tablets.

Imitrex tablets have been my mainstay; bought this Sumavel because I was able to get the 6-dose box for only $15. Used Sumavel 90 minutes ago, so still waiting/hoping for full relief. Injection was extremely painful and bled, leaving a welt. I am experiencing much more nausea than usual since the injection, but can tell I'm already not as sensitive to light and sound as before dosing. Pain and nausea are stubbornly hanging on, but I'm hopeful.

I have had severe migraines for as long as I can remember. When using Sumavel Dosepro relief from a level 8 - 10 migraine was felt in less than 20 minutes. The initial injection is painful, but not as painful as the Imitrex Injectible with a needle, and there were no side effects. I have used this medication for severe migraines for 4+ months, and each time have had the same results. I would suggest that anyone with severe migraines try this medication at least once. My results have been nothing short of miraculous. This medication is also very easy to travel with as there are no needles involved and does not require any additional devices for delivery.Read More Read Less
