Went from 80 degree curvature to nearly normal. At time of injections had severe bruising and swelling. Went away in a few days. Three injection times separated by several weeks.

3 series done. 2 each. 35% to 10% so far. pain, swelling, bruising all for up to 5 days after each. Stretching exercises are key!

I'm a 78 year old, healthy male who has had D.P. for well over ten years. Took the injection in August of 2021. Quite painful but quick. Results: nothing. No swelling, bruising, and the following week the doctor was unable to break the cord. Decided to go for surgery.

Three treatments: 2011, 2015 and 2021. Each time the injection was painful but only for a few seconds. Rupture procedure 48 hours later was unpleasant but not seriously so. In each case, I got the use of my fingers back & straight. It worked well for me, but Dupuytren's comes in many weird forms, some of which may not respond as well. Drug cost is unconscionable: nearly $10,000 for one small syringe of medicine in 2021. Absolute robbery. (Doctor and clinic costs were reasonable.)

I had the via flex procedure for DC done two weeks ago on my left hand only. I will say that it hurt like a mf er while getting the injections! I lost count how may he did, but it was two vials worth for the one hand- 8-10 shots from the middle of my palm all the way out to the last joint of the pinky. The only numbing was a freezing spray his assistant used before he injected the needle into the tissue. I've shot my hands before with nails from pneumatic nail guns- this was like that but in slow motion! I knew he had to be cautious, so I was fine with it; just know it did hurt! So far my fingers are straight, but I'm only two weeks in. I had to get pain medicine the first night- pain was an 11 on a scale of 1-10! With ice, 800 mg of ibuprofen 4x a day, and prescription pain meds for two days, I was fine. I wore the brace more than required- it felt like the fingers wanted to curl again, so I've been lightly easing them back. I also have weird numbing needling tingling in my pinky as I ease my palm back trying to keep the pinky straight- that borders on painful shock, but that could be related to recently diagnosed carpel and capial tunnel in that side hand/arm. I'm anxious to see when that goes away and if that new feeling is related at all to the Dupuytrens being fixed.Read More Read Less

I am very happy with xiaflex my experience was better than I expected after reading these reviews. I had a 30 degree pinky and had one injection I experienced a little swelling on my had and bruising at the injection spot. 2 days later the dr. bent my finger backwards and 5 or 6 pops my finger was straight again. I've spent the last 5 days starring at my hand. Feels great to have my hand back to normal. Day 6 no swelling and injection site still sore but getting better daily. The procedure was a success.Read More Read Less

I had my left hand injected on April 19, 2021 and have had GREAT results. The injections were not very painful, the numbing was a painful at first and the manipulation was painless and effective. IMMEDIATE RESULTS!!! Cost was $7000 for my deductible. Very little pain, minimal bruising and an easy process. Have my right hand scheduled in July. If you are dealing with DC, don’t hesitate to get this treatment done.

This is an absolutely horrible drug and treatment that did nothing to improve my curvature of my penis and actually made things worse. I went through all 8 injections over a 6 month period and followed the instructions to a T but in the end not only did it do nothing to lessen my curve which is about 60% but it made my penis shorter by about an inch. Peyronies shortens your penis anyway by about an inch to an inch and a half so this just devastated me. In the end my penis is more than 2 inches shorter with the same curve. Additionally, I have had pubic area pain that is intermittent which I attribute to the injections. For 6 to 8 months I had a bruised and swollen penis that I had to stretch as part of the treatment which was excruciating and for 6 months after the last injection all I did was cry because it failed. I know that sounds pathetic to some but this is a very lonely disease to deal with and this company who created xiaflex needs to be held accountable for this.Read More Read Less

I had 2 injections on my left hand February 5, 2021. I have previously had surgery on both hands which turned out well. So when my fingers were bent about 80 degrees I thought I would try the injections. Never again!!! First of all it was very painful but worst of all it did not work. My insurance basically paid over $33,000 for nothing.

After reading reviews on this page, I was nervous about the inject. However, I did move forward with the procedure. The actual injection was painful for a few minutes and my hand did swell and was pretty sore the day after. Two days later, I returned for the manipulation. Again, I was nervous due to the pain and stiffness in my hand and finger. The Doctor administered a local anesthetic and within a few minutes was able to break the cord and undo 8 years of Dupuytren's Contraction. My finger is straight as an arrow and the nodules are significantly smaller, almost gone. Four days after the injection and most of the pain and swelling is gone and I'm back to normal activity including light weight training. Overall it was a very positive experience and I'd do again if needed in the future. Read More Read Less

Although the injections were painful and there was a little bit of pain after the second injection in each series, I am very pleased. After just 2 series, I have gone from 60 to 30 degrees. That is far better than surgery.

Injection at three sites in left pinky which was at about a 90 deg angle. Injection was moderately painful as the hand specialist wanted to know if I felt something like an electric shock, thus indicating he was near a nerve. 24 hours, with anesthesia, the finger was straightened to very near no kink at all. No tearing of any skin which I understand can occur. I did wear split at night for six months but very pleased with results.

Treated in March. from the beginning I regained only about 60% flexibility. Now July and little has changed. Another expensive injection or surgery seems to be my only option

Curvature the same, and now base of penis gets no blood! And the â??60 percent experience average of 17 degrees curvature reduction.â? What does that even mean? I knew that going in, but zero degrees? I guess Iâ??m in the 40%. Talk about a Hail Mary.

I was very disapointed with Xiaflex. I had procedure involving 3 shots to correct Dupuytrens contracture in right hand, small finger. Shots were very painful  and syringe supplied by Endo "blew apart" on 2 nd shot. Next day cord break left open wound which could not be stitched and took several weeks to heal. Finger is still 20 % bent and still has extra mass under skin. Making maters worse my copay was over $900. Previously I had  two operations for same condition in diff fingers. Much much better approach and results and less out of pocket. Read More Read Less

4 sessions and nothing. Not much in the way of monitoring effectiveness during Dr appointments. Felt as if I just showed up for shots and hoped for the best. First appointment Doctor wanted to skip the evaluation process of producing erection to determine amount and direction of curvature. After complaining Doctor induced erection through injection but really didnâ??t spend much time on analysis. Doctor did not wait the recommended time for erection to subside before injecting Xiaflex. Bruising and swelling occurred. On top of it all, the Doctor filled the room with observers without considering the embarrassment factor. Needless to say, I was not pleased. I did not like his using my treatment as his personal teaching moment. I feel that the Doctors performing this treatment should be evaluated and trained better by the Pharmaceutical Company. Follow ups need more effort. For the money I spent would have expected better care and results. Read More Read Less

Had 3 injections on my right ring finger on a Monday, Went back on the following Wednesday and had the finger straightned and the cord broken. I must say that the injections and the manipulation was painful. However, my finger is currently still perfcetly staright 3 months in. I do strecth the finger several times a week and wear a brace at night when I sleep for at least 4 hours. I still have two small nodules in my palm but they do not affect any functions as of yet. I recommened this treatment as an option. Anyone that has researched Dupuytrens knows there is no cure. If i get a few years of having a straight finger before it returns, I will probably have the same procedure again. Just please do the research and choose an experienced doctor that has administered Xiaflex. Preferably several times. Read More Read Less
